OT: The War for the Uncharted Territories starts this week

KRAD

This Wednesday, there are three Farscape titles hitting your local comic shop.

First off, Strange Detractors by series creator Rockne S. O'Bannon, KRAD, and Will Sliney is being released in trade paperback for the first time, so if the hardcover price scared you off, now's your chance.

Next, the final issue of Farscape: Scorpius by Rockne, David Mack, and Gordon Purcell finishes off the "Glorious Basterds" arc, and sets up...

Farscape #13 by Rockne, me, and Will, which kicks off the third year of Farscape comics with a one-year-long storyline called "The War for the Uncharted Territories." Nothing will be the same after this.

I'm not sure, but I think you might have linked to the wrong post.

No problem. That definitely looks really cool! I'm a huge Farscape fan, and you and David Mack are two of my favorite authors, so pretty much as soon as I finish watching the show (I've never seen most of the last two seasons so I've been watching them through Netflix) I'm gonna pick up The Beginning of the End of the Beginning.

Read the first issue. I enjoyed it. Some major things happen, though its more of a setting the stage type story. The artwork was pretty good, especially in the close ups. The cover was well done. KRAD continues to capture the voices of the Farscape characters pretty well. Though the Grennij weren't featured in this book, I'm curious to see them; its an interesting species name. I thought the Kkore were bad ass, and I like the name. If I had a criticism, it would be that the book felt a little slight in terms of page length and also the cover price. But this first issue was good enough to make we want to read more. I just got the feeling that this story is going to go all out done the line in a way we couldn't see on TV or maybe even in a film. So hope I'm right (rubbing hands in anticipation).

Questions (Potential Spoilers)

1. What happened to D'Argo's son?
2. Was that Crais dude merely related to the Crais from the series, or was that the Crais from the series?
3. Who, or what, is Roiin?

On a semirelated note: which ones actually made it out in hardcover before they were canceled? Volumes 1-3, and D'argo's Lament (the first Uncharted Tales), but not Volume 4 or D'argo's Trial (the second Uncharted Tales)?

KRAD:

When's the next Farscape TPB coming out? Any idea? Reports I've seen are March 2011, which seems a long time away.

D'Argo's Trial also made it out in HC. I've got it.

Crap. Amazon never got it in stock, and I can't find anyplace with a copy left. Guess I need to cancel my order for the paperback (and the third D'argo series) until I can find it used, then.

Unfortunately, 22 pages at four bucks is more or less the industry standard, especially for the second-tier companies (to wit, those that aren't Marvel or DC).

Heh heh heh heh heh heh heh....

1. Jothee left Moya at the end of the "Red Sky at Morning" arc (issues #5-8 of the ongoing series) to rejoin the Luxan Army.

2. Those were Crais's parents. We saw Crais's father briefly on the show in "That Old Black Magic" and "The Hidden Memory," and we saw both Crais parents in the "Tangled Roots" arc of the comic (issues #1-4 of the ongoing).

3. Roiin is a bounty hunter who's been hired by parties unknown to capture Crichton and Aeryn's son. We first saw him in the first miniseries, "The Beginning of the End of the Beginning," and we met an alternate-timeline version of him in "Gone and Back." Chiana cozied up to him in "Tangled Roots" in an effort to find out who hired him, but found herself unexpectedly falling in love with him, and she left Moya during the "Compulsions" arc (issues #9-12 of the ongoing) to find him.

Almost -- as stated elsewhere, there was a hardcover of D'Argo's Trial, as well as for ...Lament and the first three miniseries.

Thanks KRAD. I like how you're moving the story forward. I believe that the comics are considered canon right?
