Just finished it and it was a fantastic book
The potrayal of a war against alien forces invading Earth was very realistic as silly as this sounds
Though the government was quite stupid at first. They knew about the alien incursion for weeks and allowed them to build strongholds without doing anything.
We really need a sequel to this book
Nitpick:
At first it's said that the Gray's carrying Russel's message appeared in Arlington. But a few pages later she says that they sent them to China

^ It's not that the gov't was stupid...all they had were unconfirmed reports of sightings and unexplained electronic disruptions. The Blues had been there for a while, but they were trying to remain undetected. The Grays didn't care who saw them when they finally started showing up, because they were shooting at everything, anyway. The group in Missouri was the first contact that ended in a firefight, and provided a spokesperson for the Blues who could provide the info necessary for the gov't to start putting it all together.
As for the Arlington/China thing, that was just a goof up that got past everybody. I've made a note of it for future correction. Thanks!

Another thing:
You obviously tried to draw some parellels to the American Civil war and the war between the Plysserians and the Chodrecai was also called a civil war. But I don't think that's correct.
From Max's description of the war it sounded the cold war going hot. Two different nations fighting for political and ideological domination. That's not a civil war for me. A civil war by definition is fought between various factions in one country

^ When you think about it, any war fought among the same species is in effect a civil war. The American Civil War was fought for political and ideological reasons just like WWII, the scale and sphere of influence were only smaller. I was trying to evoke that idea without smacking anyone across the face with it. Looking back at it, maybe I didn't pull it off effectively.
Maybe, but Max also makes specific references to different nations on the planet and says that smaller nations got caught up in the middle.
If you had potrayed Janashtreena (sp?) as a unfied planet that was torn apart by internal quarrels then I'd agree.

I have always been a huge reader of Military Sci-Fi (LOVE it) and I am so pleased that you have written such a great book (so far) this branch of the genre that I adore!

Sorry for the delay in responding....
I envisioned them as advanced versions of the LCACs (Landing Craft, Air Cushion) in use by the Navy today, using a sort of anti-grav tech. Since they played such a minor role in the book, I didn't get too excited about explaining them much beyond what was provided.
Now, if there's a book 2....that could be a different story
