Can't tell you how jazzed I was to find out about Greg Cox's The 4400 novel, The Vesuvius Prophecy due out in June. Myself, and the several other 4400 fans at my store have already pre-ordered it and we're all quite excited about it. I am especially, since the show is now gone and considering I'm a big fan of his Star Trek books. Even though it's set during the third season, any new 4400 stories are very appreciated.

Just wondering if there were any other 4400 fans out there looking forward to it and if anybody knew if there'd been any word on future 4400 publications from Pocket aside from the other novel in the pipeline mentioned by Greg in an email quoted at the link below.

Here's hoping it does well, both for Mr. Cox and the prospect of future 4400 publications. Then I'll have an even larger backlog of books to read in addition to the giant Trek stack I've amassed.

According to this livejournal entry by Dayton Ward from a while back there are four 4400 novel planned at the moment.

I've linked to this yesterday in another thread, but since I don't know if you have read it yet: Greg Cox recently did an interview were he talked about his 4400 book.

Four? Very nice. I'll check out the interview too, thanks for the link.

Does anyone know the time setting for these four books? do they take place throughout the series or are they all set after the series? so a combination of the two?

Don't know about the other three, but Greg Cox said this in the interview about his book:

The book takes place about midway through the third season, shortly before Jordan Collier returns.

To be more specific, it takes place right after "Graduation Day." That's the one where Isabelle wipes out the Nova Group after they drive Shawn insane . . . .

It also takes place before Alana got shipped off to Canada.

Thanks for all the enthusiasm about the book, btw.

Greg

Greg's already answered for his, and I can tell you that the bulk of our book, Wet Work, takes place during the second season, between the episodes "Carrier" and "Rebirth."

^ Possibly, but it's worth noting that both Greg's novel and ours were contracted and approved to be written well before the word came down that the show was cancelled. In fact, Greg had already turned his book in and gotten final manuscript approval, IIRC.

As for the series continuing on to tell stories set after the show, that all depends on how well these first books sell. So, uh...buy lots of copies. They make great stocking stuffers.

I've only just finished watching the series, so I will be buying the books eventually. (I just brought a whole bunch of books and so have about twenty on my to-read, half of which are ST).

I'd like to see post-finale books, perhaps with the moniker "The 4400: Promise City"

Keep it real

^ Two things.

1) The contract calls for a certain number of books, and that contract was signed a while ago. They'll do as many as they were contracted for.

2) Re: your sig, it's Susan Shwartz. No C. :)

^ Fuck me sideways. Missed it entirely.

I blame society. Or the booze....
