OT: Doctor Who: Short Trips: The Quality of Leadership

For reasons known only to the voices in their heads, Amazon.co.uk has the book listed, but with Ian Farrington (the former in-house editor at Big Finish, to whom I sold the anthology and who left the company in September 2007) listed as the sole author. :brickwall:

Amazon.ca also sells the Short Trips books, but they don't have the new one listed yet, and the bunch previous are still only available for pre-order. (I could have sworn Destination Prague was available for sale last summer, but now it's a pre-order).

There's apparently an American book distributor who's trying to get the Big Finish Short Trips books into North American distribution channels, but they're running several months behind. Which could be why Destination Prague is listed as a pre-order; it could be that this distributor hasn't actually received the book yet to distribute.

It's not distributed in the U.S., no, but there are ways to get it. As Allyn said, Who North America is one option, as is Big Finish's own site. Also Mike's Comics in Worcester, Massachusetts carries the BF books, and they do mail-order.
Mike's Comics is fab-- the book I'm reading right now, I couldn't find anywhere, and so I e-mailed a few British sf specialty sites to see if they would carry it. Mike's e-mailed me when it came in, sent it out quickly once we had payment sorted, and charged me probably half of what it would have cost to get it direct from the publisher!

Borders says Destination Prague is available for pre-order and is available May 2008.

*tsk* Time travellers, eh? They're all over the place.

Destination Prague's been out a good while now; I'd encourage anyone interested in buying this fine tome (or other Short Trips collections such as, oh, Dalek Empire, Snapshots or The Quality of Leadership...) to venture over to Big Finish's home site (www.bigfinish.com) and order direct. The site will be relaunched in early February.

Could somebody give me a rough chronology for the order in which I should view the Big Finish Website Relaunch? Are there any pages from other websites that tie-in to the BFW-R?

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

Didn't they just relaunch the website last year?

They're redoing it again because they're going to offer audio plays (including "Unregenerate!" - go buy that) for download.

The name of that British online bookstore that ships free worldwide is the Book Depository. It shows this anthology as currently unavailable, but that should change soon, I imagine.

The free shipping is priceless. With the higher cost of books in the U.K. anyway, the exchange rate that doesn't current favor us, etc., this makes a big difference in making a book shipped across the Pond affordable.

^ Download? Sweet! I like the sound of that! Kinda like eBooks for the ears. :D
If you're interested in downloading audio plays/books, you might want to check out ITunes, because they have a audio books section, which includes alot (if not all) of the Trek audio books.

The rest of the list includes other Trek authors -- John S. Drew, Allyn Gibson, Robert T. Jeschonek, Una McCormack, Terri Osborne, James Swallow, and Richard C. White -- as well as Kathleen O. David, Linnea Dodson, and Steven Savile.

[screech] Ohmygod! [/screech] Nea's a good friend. I can't believe she's getting something published (guess I ought to start reading her blog again...). Wonder if this is her first professional story... I know she writes fanfic.

Well, if KRAD editing and familiar author names weren't enough enticement for me to buy it, a friend sliding in there sealed the deal. :)

(BTW, I'm trying to work out a deal with Mike's Comics for them to supply copies of The Quality of Leadership for sale at Shore Leave 30 in July, since the editor and seven of the authors will be there.....)

That would be awesome. Especially since the booksellers who were there this past SL had such a dismal selection of brand-new Trek books. :censored:

I'm assuming this would be distributed on Amazon UK if we can't get it at SL? I'll be sure to carve out some of my tax refund to pay the hefty European price for it.

This is, in fact, Nea's first pro fiction sale. And yeah, Amazon.co.uk will in fact be carrying it.

Good old Amazon. They have David Mack as the sole author of Collective Couplings. Way to take a moment to get their facts straight.
