The Orville just keeps putting out consistently good episodes. We're what, nine into the season and we now have had a spotlight for each character?Even with a character-centric story we usually get a good deal of material about the others.

My original gripes (unfunny humor and too much of a focus on Kelly's and Ed's relationship problems) are largely gone. The show's been genuinely funny since episode five, with the prank storyline.

Last night's episode, in my mind, completely justified the recurring mentions of Kelly's adultery. I REALLY want to see where they go from here.

I now rank it above Galaxy Quest, VOY, ENT and STD in the list of Trek shows. Sure, it's not a Trek show, but it does a fantastic job of continuing the spirit of TNG.

I don’t know if The Orville will keep getting better and better but I do know that I haven’t watched a bad episode yet. Not even a mediocre one!

I haven't gotten a chance to watch "Cupid's Dagger" yet. But the first eight episodes are just plain fun to watch, something I haven't experienced with Star Trek in a really long time.

I think the Reason I am loving Orville right now is because In 9 episodes I love these characters. They are relatable, likeable, and very easy to root for and want to see succeed. Also this series in showing the power of episodic TV, covering issues of our time (social media, gender rights, religious fundamentalism) without being preachy it off putting. The show marketed as a Star Trek parody has become a whole lot more than that and I couldn’t be happier to have decided to give this show a chance.

Agreed. Really loving this show. Just really fun to watch, and this episode especially, got genuine laughs. It's the show I look forward to the most from week to week now. One thing I also really like is how everyone has their hair down; as in, everything feels more relaxed and able to have fun. I think most of the issues with immature humor that were in some of the early episodes are mostly gone now. It can be pretty profound at times.

I'm enjoying The Orville more than I have anything on TV in ages.

Ah, a clip from After Trek. :)

If you asked me after last week's episode, I would agree emphatically, but definitely not after last night's episode.

I just watched my first episode. The husband and I love it!

Why can't Discovery be more like this? It's so damned dark and serious. I know this is a joke show, but it feels more Trek than that does. :(

Discovery has some very see rumpus episodes, too. I think episode 8 had no jokes.

That does seem to be what Trek fans do a lot of, yeah. Hey, the show had to get old eventually...

It clicks right in to the sci fi part of my brain, satisfyingly, like a Lego block.

The downside of a 13 episode season is it magnifies the impact of even a single turkey. So count me as someone who does not like short TV seasons.
