Does anyone know if the original vfx elements for the movies (particularly the early ones) survive? And if so, could they be recomposited using modern methods like was done for the TNG remastering?
The first 3-4 movies have instances where elements are fuzzy from all the layers being composited, matte lines, or colors don’t match so different elements look like they aren’t in the same environment.
Generally they were all examples of great work given the technology, time and budget constraints of the time, but it would be nice to have clearer shots of the models and other elements that folks worked so hard to produce.
