Series is based on Piper Kerman's memoir Orange Is The New Black: My Year In a Women's Prison.

Kate Mulgrew plays Galina 'Red' Reznikov, a woman who runs the prison kitchen and serves as a mother figure for her fellow inmates.

From the creator of Weeds, which was a fine show for the first 3-4 seasons.

I didn't realize the lead was Taylor Schilling, the same as the lead of Mercy which was a one season series Mulgrew was in. Played Schilling's mother. WOW!

I've been fb following this but it gets lost in the fb dross.. so thank you very much for posting it. This is what Kate Mulgrew cut her hair and dyed it red for, subject of much shock on this forum
