Oprah Audiences

So I rarely if ever watch Oprah, but sometimes our local stations show specials, eg the other night they had the cast of Sex and the City promoting the new movie.

I don't know where they get the Audiences from for Oprah, but it's like something out of Stepford wives or something. They must also inject them with some sort of stimulant to get them acting so completely insanely crazy because no real person would be so damn excited would they?

I also saw a clip of an Oprah's Favorite Things audience (the show where Oprah gives free stuff to the entire audience) and I swear they were more excited than their first orgasm's in most cases.

It has to all be contrived and I'm guessing every single audience member is hand picked and interviewed for five hours prior to the show to ensure they have the correct level of Zanyness for an Oprah Audience.

While I doubt they go quite that far, putting together a television audience and then manipulating that audience into performing on cue is a television art form. In the case of a show like Oprah, the audience is already hyper since they love her so freaking much and, I expect, have to arrange to get tickets far in advance so by the time they're in the studio they're wqell excited. Oprah can engender that kind of reaction simply by being Oprah... they're mad for her. You think an Obama crowd is under his sway, an Oprah crowd would kill and eat babies on her command. I also wouldn't be surprised to learn that wine or cocktails are served before the taping begins.

My best friend and his wife got into an Oprah taping. He tells me it was the most insane experience he's ever had. That those women were absolutely out of their minds.

I remember seeing an SNL sketch that kind of took a take on this showing women having orgasms, heart-attacks, etc. in the audiance after Oprah makes annoucements/offers prizes, etc.

I swear, the sign above the stage must say "Act Bat Shit Insane!" rather than "Applause!" I also think Oprah is raising herself as a false Idol.

Oprah is just one more example of a media created cult figure. It's honestly scary how many people go crazy over her and other "celebs." It just makes me laugh when people talk about how much more "advanced" we are than ancient peoples.

Yeah I'm glad that I'm not the only one who thinks Oprah's audience has insane reactions to things at times. Especially during "Oprah's Favourite Things" I could understand going ape shit over getting sweet ass free shit but come on, some of those peoples (guys too) just plain react like they're having orgasms right then and there. The Oprah connection is one of the reasons I am so weary about Obama and how his following seems to be so cultish and uncritical.
