I for one like the excessively showy nature of the "foreign exchange vessels" of the Romulan Star Empire. Were I from an isolationist culture bent on future world domination, I'd sure only go abroad in impressive juggernauts like that.
Whenever the TNG era Warbird made an appearance, it was a decisive one, and usually a single vessel was a credible threat and two would have been deliberate overkill. Which is why the ending of "The Defector" works so nicely...
In open battle in the Dominion War, though, I would have expected the Romulans to field all their lesser (or at least less glamorous) ship types as well. And I would have hoped to see more destruction unleashed by the show-off Warbirds. Although destroying an entire planetary surface in "The Die is Cast" sure looked cool!
