On rewatching the visuals are actually pretty good. The opening passages of the new musical arrangement are absolutely lame and enervated.

I was certainly glad to see that they didn't stick Smith's mug in there somewhere, floating through the vortex - of course, that would have gone in the opposite direction from what they said they were trying to accomplish here.

The visuals were great. I also really liked the "DW" in the title starting to turn and morphing back into the TARDIS.

The music took a second to get used to, but it grew on me fast after rewatching it a few times. I'm glad they tried something different.

To me it seemed like they were kind of mixing the "Trial" theme-which had a slightly sinister tone to it-with the TV movie theme.

The visuals are ok, but the music is just abysmal, there's just too much going on. They need to lose the stupid "dramatic" orchestration and drop the annoying "adventurous" string bits in between the "OOOOOOWEEEEEEOOOOOO" parts. I've never liked any of the new themes simply because of those strings.

Yeah I feel pretty much the same way.

My favourite iterations have always been the Pertwee/Baker versions of the theme tune. The original arrangement is fine too, but it's lacking the punchiness of the 'sting' and the cool, low-note 'sucking' sound at the end of the outro.

I also don't mind what has become known as the Davison theme (though it was first introduced for Tom Baker's last season and went right through to the first 1 or 2 of Colin Baker's seasons). Kudos for trying to do something different, and yet keeping the best elements of the original. Transposing the theme to a different key must have seemed like heresy at the time. There are some extra beats and emphasis thereof in there that are very cool, not to mention the ending 'explosion' sound.

Everything else has been kind of yuck though, particularly the Murray Gold ones, if you ask me.

I just don't get why they feel they need to speed it up so damn fast. A slower version would be just as dramatic and effective against the same backdrop (as we've seen in previous title sequences).

My willpower collapsed on me and while I've managed so far to avoid watching the full episode (it doesn't air in Canada for another 2 weeks), I couldn't resist checking out the new opening.

I loved it. It's vibrant, exciting, and isn't the same old, same old. Yet it's still the Doctor Who theme. At the same time, while Gold's 2007 version was said to be reminiscent of the Howell theme from the early 80s, I found the new version came across as a pumped up approach to the Dominic Glynn "Trial" theme, which I always felt was underrated. Hopefully when Gold or whoever comes to make the NEXT rearrangement, they'll bypass being inspired by the McCullough McCoy-era theme, which I've never liked.

As for the visuals, I thought they looked stunning and the lightning flashes with the sudden appearance of the names was great and really jumped out at you. My only complaint is the lettering is hard to define at times, especially on Gillan's name. Hopefully they'll tweak this.

And the animated logo rocked.

I'm happy to see there still IS an opening theme. So many shows are doing away with them, or just giving us 10-second nothings (I like the Torchwood theme, but it could be a bit longer).

People hate change. Both of Gold's previous versions were lambasted, and while Howell's theme is beloved by many, others still hate it. There are probably a few people who wish they'd never added the echo back in 1967.

But just like changing the Doctor, changing the theme music is part of the concept of the series, and I for one loved how it was handled. It's certainly made me even more excited to watch the show. And it's gonna rock in high-def (not to mention if future seasons bow to "public demand" and are filmed in 3-D).
