So, it is here, and the new opening theme is upon us. Vote if you like the Music and the Visuals.

I'm going to say that personally, I dislike the music, but I more so dislike the visuals. I think the lightning jolting the TARDIS around is quite lame. I like the wormhole visual though. The music really needs some work, I wish it was simpler.

The theme is growing on me, I admit (Trial of a Time Lord, as I repeat ad nauseum)

I think the visuals are an improvement over the RTD ones. Aside from the title and cast cards, I always thought the vortex was disappointingly sparse, especially after the crowded but very-textured McGann movie vortex. It just seemed to lack a lot of depth.

Also, shades of the TNG episode Time Squared:

The new theme is slowly starting to grow on me-- especially when I listen to the full 1 minute version. Unfortunately in the actual sequence, with all the vortex sound effects and lightning bolts, it sounds a bit too muddled and lifeless for some reason.

Hopefully they'll tweak the sound mix or something for future episodes.

I like the new arrangement and the visuals.

But what's up with the Like/Dislike/Impartial thing? "Impartial"? Didn't you mean "neutral", "undetermined" or "undecided"?

I can take or leave the clouds and fire, though it would be nice if it were a bit faster and I really liked the look of the watery effect they have in the promo stuff. That music however, is just horrible. It has no flow to it, no emotion or theme. Its like they took the old theme and went out of their way to make sure it stayed as neutral as possible. Every time you think it is about to burst into a 'HELL YEAH' moment it just kind of dips back into neutrality.

I quite like the new theme, but yeah, it could maybe do with a tiny bit of work here and there.

I like the visuals but the music left me rather cold. I prefer the overly bombastic themes myself but i guess itll grow on me and if the last theme is any indication there will be a half dozen variations of it before 11 regenerates again anyway.

1st time I saw it I wasn't sure. It just felt wrong, and the first episode cuts to it from the pre credits sequence rather suddenly so, I dunno, I think it just took me aback.

Second time - fantastic. Gotten used to the new theme and I really like that they've kept a "traditional" opening titles sequence but done something fresh with the visuals at the same time.

The theme is rather bold. The horn riff at the start is so unorthodox I can see why people are having a hard time with it. But, my attitude is that Doctor Who is nothing without these periodic changes. I think the fact that every so often it rips us all from our comfort zones is a good thing.

I think I need an option for both are growing on me!

Hell couple of weeks I'll probably love em

For me, I think it may take a couple more viewings to get used to it.

Initially, I'd have to go with not liking the new theme (though I didn't hate it) It'll probably grow on me though.

Visuals are brilliant, the base beat and opening of the new tune is fantastic, its just when it reaches Smiths name and goes all tinkley that it loses some of its Ommphh!.

But i can live with it.

Absolutely loved both.

The new vortex, which turns out not to be the one seen in the 3d trailer, like we suspected. The lightning jolting the tardis, the cloudy look to the vortex. Still blue and red though. EXCELLENT.

Murray Gold arrangement, fabulous.

Shadows of 70s/80s Who, but with a modern twist and an upbeat danny elfman esque beat through it, i loved it. :techman:

I prefer almost any of the earlier musical interpretations. The driving "DA DA DA DA" (Sound of Drums?) beat is almost lost. It may grow on me though. I do not care at all for the visuals, though. The time/space vortex can look like a tunnel effect, but I would prefer that it doesn't look like a smoke filled volcanic tunnel from a low budget version remake of "Journey to the Center of the Earth". It just does not imply "warped" enough or
present a sufficient feeling of "strangeness" for me. I hope this
gets changed as soon as is possible. ....But it is only the opening credit..... What's INSIDE the show is what is important!

That's one thing that I didn't like about the last theme. Rather than the four beats, it was really just a guitar riff going DA da-da-da-da DA da-da-da-da (almost five beats, really).
