Yeah, I think it was voted the best sit-com a few years ago. I wouldn't be surprised if it's been on BBC America though.I don't think this one ever made it here to the states. Wasn't it named the favorite all-time sitcom in a poll?
Never was a big fan of it, but of course I used to watch it, don't have a strong attachment to it though. I should watch it again though.I've recently been watching the whole show through, it has brought back a lot of memories of the 80s and 90s.
I must say, I don't find it as hilarious as I used to, some of the humour seems a little middle aged, it's often very slapstick, and some of it seems extremely crass. But it is of its time.
As a dramedy though it's really quite effective, it's very well observed and David Jason's performance is much more involved than I remembered it being. It can be quite a touching show in some ways.
