.... and what if they launched the series without the Trek brand? come up with totally new characters, new names...made their own show like say The 100, Stargate, Babylon-5, Defiance
 
I think it's okay with potential to either be great or terrible.

This show relies so heavily on Trek mythology it wouldn't work under a different name.
 
Paramount TV changed their name to CBS something something like ten years ago.
