Ongoing Saturday Night Live Discussion Thread

I don't know if I could have made it through that think if I didn't have it recorded and fast-forwarded through it. Would have liked to seen more full versions of the various older skits instead of clip compilations.

Searched, found this thread to be the most recent...

Surprise Mike Myers appearance last week, (behind on dvr watching.)

He has turned into Shatner, with hair! Hey Mike, buddy, the oversize sweater isn't hiding the manboobs as much as you may think they are. ;)

Nice to see him funny again. The material wasn't bad, but it probably helped that 'Wayne' appeared to be in control.

Overall, it wasn't the least funniest episode of the season.

I feel like this entire season has been extremely unfunny. The opening sketch and the news are the only worthwhile bits. The Donald Trump episode was particularly bad, it was basically a lamely written advertisement for him and nothing else. I can't believe they went along with that.

I haven't watched the show a lot this season just because I've either been out with friends on Saturday or I've went to sleep earlier. But what I've seen this season has been very weak. Maybe a handful of gems.

It is kind of annoying how all the big comedians who abhor everything Donald Trump stands for are so keen to put Donald Trump on their show for ratings. (EXCEPT John Oliver who said that he has no interest in having Trump on his show, so big props for that.) I can't look at any news channel or my Facebook feed without hearing more and more about him. The Donald Trump episode was kind of just a waste. I don't think it helped or hurt his campaign though.

You know I just realized something. I stopped drinking beer at home over the summer, and usually when I watched the show last year I had one or two. You know that early episode of the Simpsons where Homer stopped drinking for a month and realized that baseball is boring? I wonder...

They probably didn't have a choice.

There's that equal time bullshit to make it look like no one's playing favourites.

Although Hilary was barely on for 5 minutes a couple weeks earlier.

Although the republicans and democrats are not yet head to head, so that can hardly come to the fore yet?

If it was about equal time they would have brought on Jim Webb. It was all about free ratings. And you know SNL wouldn't write anything flattering to Trump but Trump wouldn't agree to anything unflattering so they had to write just a bunch of neutral mush.

I did enjoy last night's Weekend Update. They said "I don't think Donald Trump is racist. I think he's saying racist things because republican voters are racist. But isn't that worse than if he was racist?"

The Chris Hemsworth episode actually had non-opener non-news sketches that made me laugh, which is a rarity these days. I thought the short film about the bad ass cop who never goes to the hospital after being shot absolutely hilarious.
