"One moment in time...."

"The Gift" has one of my all-time favorite scenes, and it happens to be the very last one.

SEVEN: Red.
JANEWAY: What?
SEVEN: The child you spoke of, the girl. Her favorite color was red.

Agree: And she said it to the captain with the auburn hair and the red shoulders. :-)

But I also liked the very (?) end, when we see Tuvok put the lit lamp in the window.

Hmm... I can't recall.

As a J/7er, my brain stops at Seven telling the red-head in command red that her favorite color is red.

Yeah, those are all fine Torres moments . . . but!

The reason I'm not keen on her is that these moments are canceled out by utter stupidity, like, "Oh, hey, I'll violate whatever rights the doctor has so that he will alter my perfectly healthy baby's DNA, which is a necessary procedure because some brat put a bug in my sammich when I was a kid." And both of her annoying halves in "Faces". And the entire episode "Juggernaut". And etc etc.

Torres, to me, is like Chakotay - much better in fan fiction than in canon.
I didn't find it stupid because we all knew someone like Be'Lanna in real life. His name was Michael Jackson.
The mental abuse Michael faced from his father messed him up in the head so bad, that every time he looked in the mirror he saw his fathers face. He hated what he saw so bad, he went to extremes to alter his face because anything was better than looking at his father. Be'Lanna's psychological trauma is like this. This is what a self depleting attitude is and it's very real.

Huh. I'll have to think about that some more, Exodus. That's an interesting comparison.

I love that moment but then I'm also a Tuvie fan. :)

I love Tuvok.

Some people love him more than others... Tonight I discovered a "different" take on the J/T relationship than I've seen before. (Warning, the video is not completed.)

Of course, no "AU" version of their relationship can compete with the REAL DEAL!

Here's some more food for thought.

I related to B'lanna in that episode so much it made me cry. You don't know me personally, but I never cry.

I got it.

She didn't want her child to go through the pain and torture she went through as a child.

To live in two different worlds like that is agonizing. You never fit into either world; you're never really accepted. You are always the outsider, and, no matter how much you try to fit into one or both, you never really match up because you're not one of them.

You're an island.

It is a lonely experience.

No matter how many friends you have or if your immediate family loves you, the two cultures you are from do not. For every "I love you" from your mother, there's a half dozen people on your mother's side of the culture clash standing by to remind you that you're worthless because you don't fully understand. You can't fully understand because you don't really belong.

It took me a while to remember where I'd seen this: A Janeway/Tuvok friendship vid. It's an early Sazzy video. Can't avoid a hotlink if I post it here directly, so go to the link below and look in the right hand column, four down. It's called "The Voyage".

http://www.voyager-conspiracy.co.uk/Videos2.html

OH, and there are instructions at the top of that page for how to view the vids without killing the site's bandwidth. FYI.

Is it supposed to look like an andy warhol colored vid, or is my player doing weird things?

If I'm killing bandwidth, I apologize. Should I not use a link to the actual videos when I post things?

Um, something's wrong. The reason I did not provide the direct link is because the video is on Sazzy's own webpage and if people click idly on that link, it puts a lot of strain on her site and can potentially run up her bill. You Tube links are a horse of a totally different color.

Anyway. Let's all troubleshoot. Did you actually see images from Voyager or did you see ONLY the whirly colored shapes? You might have to watch it directly from the site, even though that's not the preferred method.

It was like watching the voyager, and then the people, through a kaliedoscope of 1960's color wheels. Not the swirling patterns associated with screen savers.
