Yeah, but haven't things been going downhill for bookstores since before the economy went bad.

^ I noticed in the last few weeks that the B&Ns around me are cutting inventory all over the store, some of them pulling empty units off the floor. Summer is always slow for retailers, and clearly they're anticipating the same but worse this year.

I would have thought summer would be a prime time to read as people buy books to take on vacation.
