Fridays, 8 PM, ABC
Did anyone watch tonight's season premiere? I wouldn't exactly call it a reimagining or a reset because it still maintains key characters from the first six seasons, i.e., Henry Mills and three other Storybrooke locals, with different identities living in a neighborhood of Seattle.
The focus is on a different version of Cinderella whom Henry met in a different realm and the resulting events that led to present-day characters in the community of Hyperion Heights. I must say the episode lacked a sense of magical fantasy that was the defining element of the first six seasons. No flashbacks to the Enchanted Forest. The story has an urban setting, and that sort of diminishes the fantastical appeal of the show. At least Storybrooke was a small town where the denizens knew one other, while Seattle is a big city where only certain individuals such as Jacinda, Lucy, Victoria, Roni, et al appear to be interrelated.
Next episode looks more interesting, wherein Jennifer Morrison guest-stars and reprises her old Emma Swan role.
