Once Upon A Time Season 4

Robin Hood is usually set in a certain time and place (often England in the 16th/17th Century) and plays more as historical fiction. Not much magic in most tellings.

Frankenstein was published in 1818 and takes place in the 1700s. Long after the time most fairy tale are set. Grimm's Fairy Tales was first published in 1812 and the tales were old even then. "Cinderella" has been traced as far back as the 6th Century, BC.

And to this timely history lesson I say... see my last post.
Sorry but the hyperbole doesn't help your case. The OUAT show runners seem to be looking at classic iconic characters whom they have the rights to use either by licensing or the public domain. A Disney connection is also a plus. Places like Wonderland, Oz, and Neverland are recent creations in the grand scheme of things.( The latter two from the early 20th Century) If a certain magical Nanny shows up, her literary debut was in the 1930s. So a character from a book published in the 50s isn't all that of a stretch.

Non magical characters aren't off the table either as seen with Robin Hood and Dr. Frankenstein. Frankly I'd like to see a OUAT land that features American legends like John Henry, Casey Jones,Pecos Bill and Johnny Appleseed or one drawn from Native American myth.

Obviously, the second paragraph of that post distracted from the most important part, so I will rephrase it here:

You win. Robin fits. Cruella fits. Frankie fits. Every half-assed half-magical whatsiwhojits the producers want to put in fit. I don't care. I refuse to continue arguing over the fitness of fictional characters for a show I officially stopped watching on Sunday. So I concede. You win. Enjoy the next half of the season.

Yes, we know. You've been banging on about how you were only watching for the Frozen characters since they first appeared. And you've repeatedly mention how you've stopped watching.

Since you're not a fan of the show and never really watched it, maybe you don't know what fits and doesn't.

Yup! You got me pegged, pal! Thank goodness the TRUE fans of OUAT and the readers of this thread have YOU to point out who's worthy of evaluating the producers' character choices and who isn't!

This :techman: is just for you, you observational titan! Well-earned!

^ Yes, Ariel will be returning... apparently in the very same episode (4x16 as aired/4x15 as shot) in which Ernie Hudson makes his OUaT debut as Poseidon.

I must make a correction. "Enter the Dragon", the episode in which Ariel is apparently returning, will be episode 4x15 as aired/4x14 as shot (I had previously said it was episode 4x16 as aired/4x15 as shot).

March 1st? :wtf:

Excellent! :bolian:

I've been on a OUaT binge lately.

Especially ones with Regina / Henry themes.

Notice how no-one complains that OUaT plays into the anti-Stepmother sentiment of the original fairytales anymore? :)

In late season one I used to wonder if Emma was there to save the town and Henry was there to save Regina.

The other thing I remembered in this mini-watch was how TALL Henry is getting. :vulcan:

Thank god they gave us a year in NYC to let him "grow" in season 3. :rommie:

A new episode airs tonight ... Rumple returns with the Queens of Darkness. A special retrospective precedes the show.

That was a good episode. I was worried how exciting the show would be post-Frozen. The winged devil from Fantasia was really cool.

This was a good start to the second half of the season. When they first introduced the hat and the The Apprentice some people were wondering if we'd see Chernabog, and tonight we got our answer. I did get a kick the reveal that Gold was the professor who translated the ceremony, I didn't see that coming.
I like The Queens of Darkness, they seem they should be fun villains.
I wonder how long it will be before the others realize Gold is back in town?

More Fantasia references: Bald Mountain, the demonic creature (Chernabog).

Well planned, Rumple. He really is a devious fellow; even without magic, he was able to find a way back to Storybrooke with the sea witch and Cruella. Is a happy ending really what he wants or just more power?

I'm curious as hell now. What secrets are Snow and Charming hiding? I was stunned when Mary Margaret threatened Cruella and Ursula. "If you tell anyone what happened back in the Enchanted Forest, especially Emma, you won't have to worry about Regina. I'll rip your hearts out myself." Whoa! It surprised me that the Chernabog was after Emma, whose heart is said to have a potential for darkness.

Don't take offense, but I thought you said you were done watching this series after the Frozen arc was concluded. If not, that's good. Happy viewing. :)

Agreed, but the thought occurred to me last night - why did Rumple have to wait for the Queens to come back with the scroll? Couldn't he have just folded himself up into the trunk of Cruella's car without anyone noticing? I understand the point of establishing "trust" there, but from a tactical POV, going in hidden with the others would have been more efficient.

And that IS a supremely bad-ass vehicle, too - love it! :techman: Probably runs on the ground up dust of puppy bones, liquefied with tears.
