OMG, That's Awesome!

OK. So we've debated whether Enterprise is canon.
We've voted whether ENT fits in the Trek Canon.
We've discussed again what's wrong with TATV.
And we've enjoyed TheGodBen's revisit with the show.

So, while making an av for one of the recent ENT contests, I got to thinking about how much loved it when I first saw the Andorians and their antennae moved!

It was one of many "that's awesome" moments I enjoyed on Enterprise.

Another was MU Tucker's "Pike's Delta Rays" face (especially the deformed eyelid).

What are your "OMG, that's awesome" scenes?

My OMG moment is the Enterprise art department totally getting T'Pol's appearance wrong in the first and second season. After having female Vulcan characters in TNG and DS9 there is no excuse for T'Pol to look the way she did.

Season Three they got her perfect. I guess a in story OMG moment was when Capt. Archer placed the explosive on the Xindi reptile leaders back and blew him up. That ranks right up there with Kirk in Trek 3 when Kirk tries to save the Klingon commander who instead tries to pull Kirk over the cliff with him, Kirk kicks the Klingon commander in the face while saying with each kick " I. Have Had. Enough. Of. You!"

The whole of Twilight. Generally speaking I'm not a fan of this show, but that episode just knocked me out.

The opening credits for IaMD.
The closing shots at the end of Azati Prime.
T'Pol dropping her robe in Harbinger

1.) When Shran came racing to the rescue in Zero Hour.
2.) The whole of the Vulcan and Andorian trilogies.
3.) Seeing Mirror-Archer in the TOS "pull-around" uniform.

More from my list:
Archer's escape from Cold Station 12 ...
The destruction of Earth in Twilight
Tellarite makeup

Actually, Jolene and her makeup artist made the change on their own.

That Archer blows up the Xindi dude moment in Zero Hour is what made me start watching ENT again (only watched the first half of the first season and then didn't watch again until Countdown). I also went back and watched all the back episodes that I missed. The look on his face when he pushes the button -- priceless and totally bad***.

I loved the Vulcan Arc in the 4th season. I'm very partial to Vulcans and so it was great to have things reconciled in the series with the rest of trekverse Vulcans. (It was one of the reason I stopped watching ENT in the first season. I couldn't stand how they portrayed Vulcans!)

In a Mirror Darkly (both parts). Do I really have to explain those? Best.Trek.EVER!! My two favorite moments from those, however, were scarred Trip leering at T'Pol [sotto voice]so hot![/sotto voice] and when Archer salutes Forrest and says sarcastically, "Bridge is yours... Captain." I was all, "oh SNAP!" when I saw that! Oh and I have to say that HO-shi was brilliant!... Oy, I've got to stop or else I could go on for an hour on the many ways that these episodes freakin' rock!

There are other moments. When I think of them I'll pass them along.

I tried to think about some of the most OMG "Awesome" moments I experienced across the show's first run:

- Broken Bow
- Enterprise J
- Archer in 31st century (I couldn't wait to see how they resolve it)
- Borg (not really awesome but surprised)
- Romulans in 4th season

and the absolute winner:
- NCC-1701-D in HD resolution in TATV with TNG music and Picard's narrative

I can't recall the episode, off hand, but the one where Archer vents a couple of aliens out into space. That was rather interesting.

The Aquatic ship blowing apart in battle. (My favorite Trek battle scene.)
Insectoids (Thinking Trek needs more aliens like this.)
Opening scene to IaMD (The scene threw me and the music was great.)

The end of the second season, when they did the "f-k the timeline" thing. The Xindi attack wasn't supposed to happen. They were finally out of the shadow of other Treks and doing their own thing. I loved season three. The show should have started like that. The Xindi Giant Ants were brilliant.

FWIW I thought "In a Mirror, Darkly" was garbage (although seeing Defiant kick the shit out of everyone else was cool)

T'pol's makeup was never wrong - watch Kirsty Alley in STII. No pointy eyebrows. In other news, women pluck thier eyebrows now. This will not change in 200 years. I did prefer her season 3 look, though.

The only season of ENT that I can stand and rewatch was season 3. I remember loving those final 6-7 episodes, but the wole season was great. The end of Azati Prime was an OMG moment for me. The best cliffhanger since DS9 season 5.

That is my favorite scene from ZH. I love it because he played it straight and angry (no Bruce Willis-style yippy-ki-yay garbage).

For me it was the Enterprise herself.

I first saw a photo in TV guide before the premiere of the series, all the while wondering how they would pull off doing a 100 year retro-fit version of what we already knew. And I was thrilled to see just how cool it was. I loved that the orangy Bussard's were there, the glowing sensor domes, along with the industrial surfaces, round portholes, and exoskeletal structure.

I think it's the best Trek design, not only because it had it's own look, but because it honored what had come before while not being limited by it. (I completely disregard the Akira charges, I see a lineage, I know the backstory, but Doug Drexler's design put the Enterprise entirely in her own classification)

It was a unique but clearly early Starfleet design... something very hard to pull off.

Those freaky aliens in Silent Enemy. It's not all that often you see non-humanoid, alien-looking aliens in Star Trek.

Anything involving Shran. "The Andorian Mining Consortium runs from no one!"
Archer telling Duras off in The Expanse.
Xindi Aquatic ships, Xindi Insectoids, and Archer goading Dolim while being tortured.

1. Travis' "L-4" move at the end of the Expanse.
2. Disabling the Klingon ship with the grappler.
3. The destruction of Earth in Twilight.
4. Dolim go boom.
5. Spacing the Tarkaleans in Regeneration.

Those were all OMG moments for me, in the sense that I didn't think they would Go There.

Kirsty Alley (Saavik #1) didn't in Trek2 but they caught their mistake and Robin Curtis (Saavik #2) did in Trek3 and Trek4. In other news, back in the TOS episode "Amok Time" T'Pring had the pointed eyebrows so it was established that this was the look for Vulcan women, not curved eyebrows like humans and some other races, plucked eyebrows or not. :vulcan:

JarodRussell, that was the ultimate OMG moment, just when the show was getting good....
