OMG! I've Discovered Internet Radio

For years, I've not paid attention to it...knew it was there, but didn't really bother.

Peeps, there are radio stations for everything! I'm totally hooked (check's IV..yeah, live365.com is still working...feed me! feed me, more!). Why didn't any of you tell me about this?!

The best part is that by cross referencing the stations, I've been able to find tons of legit, free downloads. For example, I really enjoy tribal dance music...so I find the parent station's website, look for the DJ's, find their websites, and for about seventy percent of them, I've found their podcasts, many of which include the playlist the station itself is playing...in 2 weeks, I've d/loaded (NOT by "the way that cannot be named") 2 Gigs of music. I am sooo addicted now.

Okay, now I return you to your regularly schedule TV/Media forum.

Ohhh, adding that one to the list. Feed me! Feed me more stations!

OMG, just ran across this one...LOL...GIRL! Stands for Gay Internet Radio Live! Music's pretty good...hilarious acronym! :guffaw:

My personal favourite is Radio Paradise. Great eclectic mix of songs, and it's put together by a professional DJ so they all flow together really well.

I listen to AOL Radio's Renaissance station all the time, and really don't know where the heck else I would listen to Renaissance music if it were not available.

Lots of people hate AOL, but AOL Radio is well done (really!) and the Mac software for AOL Radio is a nice piece of work.

Yeah I got a year's subscription to live365.com this summer and listen to it every day at work now. Well worth the 70 bucks!

I've been on LastFM for ages but I've really not used it. I'm using it today (Listening to My Recommendations Station) and it's great. I wish I had gotten it sooner.

Inept one here...I know only enouh to do this...can someone recommenda show tunes/municals site?

and free...broke doesn't begin to cover it right now.

thanks

Listen toa few of them in the past, but none compare to the radio station I've been listening to since 1997 when Triple J came to Townsville. Can listen to them anywhere in the country and online too.

It is. Whenever I get tired of all of my own music or simply don't want to have to choose, I'll turn it on. This way, I'll often discover something new and interesting too.

My 'Net stations:

WFMU in Jersey City, NJ; great freeform, non-commercial listener-supported radio.

NME Radio-a radio station run by the British music magazine NME (New Musical Express). Hear really new music, not just ex-Mousekateer pop music. Features an exclusive podcast by Ricky Gervais (who appeared in the UK version of The Office.)

Exclaim!-The official website of Canada's national music paper. Features Exclaim! Radio.
