Just heard about the news via Previously.tv's forums, through a BBC article. So sad :(. RIP good sir.

Here's a link to the news.

He passed away from a heart attack.

Just saw that on CNN. He was a fascinating character.

Somewhere, the spirits of Omar Sharif and Peter O'Toole are drinking and playing cards.

"I don’t watch any films. Billy Elliot is the only film I’ve seen in the last 25 years. Oh, and ET. Both of which I loved!”
~Omar Sharif

Phone home, from time to time, Omar...phone home.

Besides being an accomplished actor and expert card player, Sharif was a charming raconteur and I used to love his appearances on The Tonight Show or Letterman. His stories of making "Lawrence" in the desert with Peter O'Toole were hilarious. RIP.

Those diligent reporters at FOX News were on the case the other day and made sure to report the news as well:

What.The.Fuck? These guys couldn't cover a bean-eating contest and describe the farts going on at it.

I shall miss Omar for his roles in Doctor Zhivago, Lawrence of Arabia and Funny Girl; he was a class act, and one of Egypt's greatest sons.

Rest in peace, Omar-we got this.
