oldest pets

The family dog is 16 and a half years old now. She's got arthritis, a bit of blindness, some deafness, has hallucinations, was recently treated for a facial abscess, and now she thinks she's a cat. I'm also convinced she's had a stroke recently.

Apart from that, she's fine. :bolian:

That would be our rottweiler,

He's 12yrs 3 months.

Bit of grey under the muzzle, the hips are a bit arthritic and the walks are getting slower and slower (but he still expects them).

His hearing and eyesight are okay, and the vet checked him late last year when he and our other dog got their shots and the old ticker is beating fine.

We had an English Springer Spaniel for almost 17 years. By the end, she was almost totally blind, almost totally deaf, and had arthritis. She would have lived longer, but none of us could see the sense in allowing her to suffer any more than she already had.

When I was about 13 (i.e around 1971) we got a galah called Gus. He stayed behind with my parents as each of us moved out of home. When my parents moved into a retirement home one of my sisters took Gus. In the early 1990s she threw a 21st birthday for him and invited about 50 people. A few years later he had to be put down because he developed a big tumour behind his eye. Gus was about 24 when he died which was quite young for his species (at least for those in captivity).

He was a grouchy, mean old thing who would bite the fingers of strangers if they tried to scratch his head even when he was asking for his head to be scratched. Despite his bad temper were all very fond of him.

When I was three, we got a chihuahua that survived for 18 years; but I don't know how much older he was than that.

My dog Rex Lived almost 14 yrs, I had him from the time I was 10 until I was 23. he died about 6 weeks short of his 14th birthday.
even the mail man liked him Rex would escort him around the cul-de-sac.
He was a springer/samoyed mix but was a smaller mid sized dog.

Our current cats are only about 10 and 6, but my aunt and uncle had a cat who made it the early 20s. She was enormous, and would bat around with some yarn for about 15 seconds then roll over and fall asleep.

My childhood cat lived to be 17. She hated me, presumably because my arrival took away from the attention she received. I was 10 when she died, and I was still terrified of her.

My family had a beagle/dachshund mix that lived to be 22. She was put down when I was 18 -- she had cancer -- and the vet who euthanized her said she was the oldest dog he'd every seen.

My cat, Dorothy, lived to be 18 or 19 years old. I'm not sure which. She died in 2002 and I'm don't remember if I got her when I was a Freshman or Sophomore.

Had a cat ,Timmy, from the time I was 3 until I was 24..she went off into the woods behind the family farm and never returned...loved that little creature...

Our cat Buttercup-he's now about 10 years old and healthier now than he was when he was younger. He used to be a real fat ass and now he's skinny as a rail. He gets into EVERYTHING and chews up crap all the time. He likes people food for some reason and is ALWAYS hungry.
He have a dog, Maggie who is 8 years old now. She's gray around the mussle, has a bit of hip displeyxia, and arthritis, but all in all is a great dog. She sometimes has her feelings hurt, however, cause of our other dog Abby. Abby seems to take over the territory most of the time and so Maggie has nothing really to do with her. I wish they would get along!
