Thanks to the joys of ebay, I purchased the B5 model kit from 1998 and the newer 2008ish model of Voyager. (Albeit, yonks ago and am only now getting round to build them when the weather is nice to sit outside).
However, the painting guide is next to useless for B5 (and even Voy!). The B5 instructions suggests the following colours (no numbers/types are given):
Flat black
Arctic Blue Metalic
Dark Earth
Dark Gray
Light Ghost Gray
Intermediate Blue
Neurtal Gray
Flat White
Most of the above colours imply matt finishes (which I'd rather have as I don't want the model to look too shiny).
I'm now a bit confused, as I'm also looking to paint my Revell's Voyager model (which mixes up both satin and matt finishes). The Voyager model refers to numbers like "374" (silky matt) Going here:
http://scalemodeldb.com/paintcharts/revell
374 can be prefixed with a 36374 (satin acrylic) or 32374 (satin enamel). Which Voy paint is the right ones?
Obviously I'd like one set of paints to do both models.
Looking around, acyrlic looks easiest to use as you can mix with water. However - which paints is Revell recommending for Voy? I've combed through the instructions to no avail.
This then leads me back to what colours I should get for my B5 model - should I stick with matt only colours for B5 and get acrylics to suit?
(I have some old Tamiya acrylic paints - can Revell's acrylic paints be mixed?).
Painting is most confusing! Can someone please provide some clarity?
Thanks in advance.
