Old commercials we taped that date themselves

Have you ever watched an old show that you taped that, years later, completely dates itself? Obviously there are commercials for tv, movies, and old gaming systems, as well as old car commercials, but there are other, more unique commercials that offer services that are no longer available/ no longer necessary.

For example, I was watching the DS9 finale that I taped way back when, and saw commercials for 10-10-220, 10-10-321, and 1-800-CALL-ATT.

Any other examples?

It's on a few shows I taped late at night on Channel 4. It's one of those tings thats stuck in my head for all these years. It just has no place in the modern world heh

I also had the Fox Hat/Miller commercial during an ep of B5 or something like that and never saw it again. Very few people believed it existed until it popped up on clip shows.

I haven't watched them in years - in fact, they're in bags by my front door waiting for me to figure out what to do with them to get rid of them - but I have many, many tapes of TOS, TNG, DS9 and Voyager episodes taped on VHS from TV going back to about 1982 or so. I'm sure I have a lot of cheesy old commercials on there. (I'm pretty sure, for example, that I have several of the Max Headroom Coke commercials.)

I've got an old VHS copy of Ghostbusters that I nearly wore out when I was a kid. I've got it on DVD now but I still watch that tape because the commercials on that recording are almost as ingrained in my memory as the movie is!

^ Loved that ad :D

I just clicked on the Catchphrase clip in 'related videos'. I hadn't seen that clip in years! I'm tempted to search for game shows going wrong.

I always pressed the pause button during commercials when I was recording TNG season 1 and 2. Now I wish I hadn't!

With that many tapes, there is probably a place you can take them to to be properly recycled, so they don't pollute landfills.

That commercial is a classic; I like how it was imitated on Family Guy. Two other classic commercials are for Coke and Gatorade.
