That makes 2 captains with Columbo connection. Mrs. Columbo was none other than Kate Mulgrew.
That marriage didn't last long. The show had at least three titles during its single season on the air, and halfway through there was a plot point of the marriage being on the rocks, and probably drowning.

Yes (Not a spoiler, since Columbo would always show you the murder up front). Walter Koenig also has a bit part as a cop in the 70s episode, "Fade In To Murder." He doesn't share any scenes with Shatner, though.
The Leonard NImoy episode, "A Stitch in Crime," is also a standout episode. The series currently reruns on COZI-TV on Saturday and Sunday nights in the U.S.
Patrick McGoohan apparently did four episodes of Columbo and was great friends with Peter Falk and also that if Falk had left the show McGoohan was tipped to take over the part!

Yeah, but McGoohan was too decent of a guy, and too close with Falk, to actually accept the offer. A very intense guy from what I've read and his daughter, Catherine, appeared in The Return of The Six million Dollar Man And The Bionic Woman TV movie back in 87 as the secretary and very nice she was too!
