If your assumed facts, not in evidence are true, surely by now, there must be an opposing article discussing the previous problems these kids presented. Even if there is a record of problems from these kids, playing with toy lightsabers during non-school time is not a reason for suspension, there has to be more to this specific incident to make it justified.

Knowing the modern school system and the "zero-tolerance" policy, there is no reason to assume that these kids where in trouble prior to breaking the rules.

In all seriousness, is there plenty of spoiled little brats around, sure, but if your not willing to admit that there is a 50-50 chance that this was dealing with a "Zero-tolerance" policy gone amok then guess you have not dealt with the same school administators I have (and this comes from someone who never got in trouble with school administrators) I graduated in 1998, but now some of the stuff that I did would get me suspended for two weeks or expelled, and this comes from someone who never served detention....EVER...
Believe me, I have no delusions about how spoiled and unruly youth of today have become (mostly comes down to parents who vowed "I'll never treat my kids like my parents treated me", IMHO and the courts making disciplining kids into child abuse ).
But, on the other hand, the School is the authority figure, therefore, you can't convict the kids based upon assuming facts not in evidence (And cops and schools have a knee jerk reaction these days, sometimes too fast, based upon dealing with too many unruly and spoiled kids). If there is a rebuttal article telling the School's side of it, I would be happy to read it, and see the kids as the punks they are. if there is no rebuttal article, you've gotta believe, by now, that's because the School has no rebuttal.
