By a miraculous coincidence this happens a mere 24 hours after the BNP got in a tizzy about a Guardian columnist suggesting the BNP site should be fair game to hackers. (http://bnp.org.uk/2009/10/guardian-technology-editor-incites-illegal-hacking-of-bnp-website/ as I discovered when googling "guardian jobs security breach" to check whether the email I'd got was true)

The advice that came in the email though, isn't any good without a crime number, which you can't get until someone actually does something with a stolen ID, according to this:
