    I don't think Paramount expected this film to be as successful as it ultimately was, either.

    But it would be nice if they figured out the overseas conundrum...

    I agree they probably didn't expect 375-380 Worldwide.

    Not sure what they can do but advertise more and focus on doing parties and such things all over the world for it.

    I think that the reasonable success of Trek XI overseas has already solved the problem for Trek XII.

    It's not that people in other countries are against the idea of Trek, it's just that they don't know it as well. It's part of the pop culture of the US in a way that it has never been anywhere else. There are pockets of popularity, but not the general awareness.

    But with Trek XI that awareness is now a lot more widespread, so Trek XII has that to build on.
