A short time ago it struck me they forgot something on casting the original actor to play Stonn again.

He's....aged.

By rights a Vulcan shouldn't have aged to the degree he has. With Nimoy's movie roles as Spock they were able to fake it with hair dye (I'm assuming) or a wig and good makeup, but no such effort was made in the case of Stonn.

Was a little jarring. I mean, wouldn't it have been a little hard for a Vulcan to age that much in 40 Earth years?

In both timelines he ended up married to Uhura. Also, in the restored timeline, it was T'Pring (or the actress who played her in a new role) who married them.

No, I'm not. Exeter, New Voyages, Hidden Frontier, sure but I watched the first part of OGAM and it really didn't grip me at all. If anything, having known actors in it pulled me out of it more than anything.

Thanks for the question, It was intentional, not all vulcans age the same. There are people in there 20's with gray hair it can happen to Vulcans too. Stonn pretty much stayed on Vulcan his whole life and that hot condition can age you a bit, also do you know how old Stonn was in 'Amok Time' ? he could have been 60 or 70 for all we know. As for T'pring, in the original timeline he was with T'pring and later was was single and eventually got together with Uhura. In the alternate timeline, Uhura got together with Stonn many years earlier because she was helping Spock with the peace movement against the Galactic Empire.

Anyways we were throwing around the idea of making a novel of STOGAM, but we are not sure if that is something Pocket Books would pick up or not. I have, myself, pushed for it because i think we can add a bunch more content surrounding the the events and backstories that take place in STOGAM. Some of the Stonn backstory would be one of them.

First off, I was happy that they got the actors from my favorite episode "Amok Time," to take part in OGAM. Getting different people could have been, but then there'd be topics in here declaring "Why didn't they use the same actors?" And now that they did use those actors, they're criticized for using the originals in the effort.

One of the fun things of OGAM (for me) was a chance to see many people from Trek in what was essentially a fan's heaven. Some people played the roles they had in one episode of Classic Trek. For example, Stonn. Others did other characters than they are known for. For example, Cirroc Lofton (from Deep Space Nine).

Regarding the age thing, look around you. Some people age well, but others don't. And I'm glad he got to play the role from "Amok Time" for the second time in his career.

OGAM was tough for me to enjoy as much as other fan films as well. Having one ST actor would have been novel, having a bunch in different roles was a distraction.

When it comes to that movie I'd like a little back story about the Galactic Empire. I know it had something to do with Charlie X messing with time, and I assume killing kirk (Premonition of the new movie perhaps?) but did he just take over after wards and direct things, or did history take it's own coarse?

Oh, and I liked the paint job for the E. She looks good in red, but what lady doesn't?

I'd be less interested in the GE's rise to power than in the reasons for Charlie's change of heart. At the beginning of the story he's hell bent on vengeance against Kirk; later he seems to have recanted his position in favour of wanting to restore the timeline, but we're not really shown why (the implication is that he's horrified at the changes his actions have wrought, but this is never really made clear).

I'd be interested in seeing more of what happened with Uhura and Chekov and company in the original timeline, their post "Generations" careers, that sort of thing. Also, learning more about that intriguing "Museum Ship" and such.
But, in general, I'd buy an OGAM novelization in a heartbeat, and I rarely buy any of the books anymore. It may have had some rough edges here and there, but OGAM IS "Trek XI" as far as I'm concerned.
