Odd things to pop into your head a odd times.

I'm sitting here working on a short-story when out of the blue in the middle of a paragraph I start thinking "I've not watched Envangelion in a while..." and start searching wiki and YouTube for links and vids. So I've wasted the better part of an hour on something completely unrelated, lost my train of thought with the story and can't get the track again, and I'm frustrated as hell with myself

Anyone else have those moments? Just out of the blue, your brain just side tracks whatever it is that you need to work on and takes a little "vacation"?

Could be Attention Deficit Disorder. I don't have ADD but I often start doing random things to avoid doing things I should be doing but hate doing.

Well, I was watching Mythbusters when I started thinking about how I haven't been flogged in a while.

Middle of a meeting at work yesterday it occurred to me that Dollhouse might have made an error in an episode I was watching over the weekend, when it referred to a previous persona of Echo's. (Was much more interesting than what was happening in the meeting, to be honest.)

Do hallucinations count?

Once back in school, I was on about my third day without sleep. I decided to take a smoke break from a design problem. When I stepped out, I looked down onto the pavement and swore I saw a man's face. He was painted red and framed by a sort of crab mask. His claws moved to the sides of his face and he stuck out his tongue and said in the whiniest voice imaginable, "nyah nyah nyah nyah nayh nyah."

About twelve years ago, I was doing some database work. Staring at a screen for several hours at a time. Once when my eyes began to hurt, I laid back in my chair and looked at the wall. I began to see a cartoon icon or Richard Gere just floating in space. Random objects floated around him. Cakes, power tools, the obligatory hamster. When these object floated to close to him, he grabbed them and shoved them up his ass.

I know there should be a third story, but I can't think of one right now.
