Odd ship displays on the Defiant's monitors

Academy Flight Trainer: Could be mistaken and represent Peregrine Class Attack Fighters (they look alike).

Jem'Hadar warship: Makes sense

D-7 battlecruiser: Makes Sense

Long range shuttle: Maybe they were transporting troops?

Orbital office complex: No explanation

Defiant class battleship: Defiant was there, other Defiants probably were too.

Romulan warbird: Makes Sense

Sovereign class starship: Ha a Sovereign Class was there! We just didn't see it.

Negh'Var warship: Makes sense, but the Negh'Var wasn't shown in the battle.

Bajoran raider: No idea (unless Starfleet borrowed them as fighters).

Relay Station 47: Maybe it was a different relay station?

T'Plana Hath: No idea why the 21st Century Vulcan Lander was there.

Olympic class: Hospital Ships would have to be there.

Jem'Hadar attack ship: Makes sense for them to be there.

Intrepid class: Admiral Ross' flagship in IAESL was the Intrepid Class USS Bellerophon.

Galor class: Makes sense

The "Academy flight trainer" here is in fact the usual DS9 fighter (which has never been seen in a training role) and not the differently shaped training craft seen in TNG "First Duty".

Memory Alpha seems to be going by the fact that the Encyclopedia incorrectly uses the fightercraft image, with Academy symbols painted on, for its entry on training craft - and thus a sharp-eyed person might notice that this Defiant graphic, directly lifted from the Encyclopedia, also has those Academy symbols.

Generally speaking, the ship's computers might be running some sort of visual identification routine, trying to match targets with library images, including some unlikely ones. The computer wouldn't dare discount the possibility that there's a Bajoran raider or a Vulcan shuttle or lander in the battle zone, even if the odds were pretty low.

Yeah, the Encyclopedia has the wrong picture for the flight trainer.

Thats an interesting little tidbit though.

Any one of these could have simply been a ship that was within range of the Defiant's sensors. There could have conceivably been an old, 21st century Vulcan ship in use for some unknown reason. Perhaps part of a museum or something. None of these seemed too odd to me.

Not even the space stations? Although if they were anything like the stations in the Armada and Armada II games, I would want to use them against the Dominion. I would group them together and let the bad guys come to me. :D

Don't forget the displays of what is now known as the Valiant Class, the conceptual design of the Defiant before it was changed to the final configuration. Some of the displays were done by set design before the final approval of the miniature, causing some confusion.
