I'd've voted for Camelopard too. I think there should be longer to vote though, it's 3 or 4 days, generally, iirc.

Another request here for a longer voting window next time - it was still Nov 1st when I tried to vote so that seems a hideously short time for a contest where the closing date is the 31st Oct.

Thanks to everyone who voted for me, and who left feedback for my story!

And my commiseration to Dulak--I know what it's like to lose a close vote. Not too long ago, I actually cast the deciding vote in a monthly challenge--against myself!

Let me post my story in the winners' thread, and I'll come up with a new challenge.

Yes, apologies all for my mishandling. Despite erratically posting here since 2000, this was my first time. In the future - in the unlikely event of winning another contest - I promise a window of a few days.

And congratulations to Camelopard. I did vote for you, but Dulak's work was a masterpiece of replication of all the weak, shoddy aspects of TOS.
