October Challenge Vote

What was your favorite collaboration?

  • Total voters
    14
  • Poll closed .
Just a suggestion, but with only 3 entries, perhaps just one vote for your favourite might get a more accurate result?

I thought the same thing. But people are free to cast less votes and the authors probably will, anyway (because otherwise you have little choice then to just vote for the two other stories ;)). A shame we only got so few entries.

I considered just one vote since there were so few entries, but I decided two votes could make it interesting, and as Count Zero said, a lot of times people only vote once anyway. :)

This was a really tough choice for me. I enjoyed both entries very much. Scary Monsters got the edge because it seemed to be more complete and it really pulled me into the narrative. However, I genuinely hope to see more additions to Vassals and Rebels because the concept was so well developed by the various segments.

I voted once-Scary Monsters. Kaz and I never got finished-he had internet issues from hell and Some kind of flu(swine?) swept through my house-the family has been sick for a week and a half. I had to maintain everything and didn't have the energy to write. All we had was a good start-but it hadn't gone anywhere yet. Sorry. I'd like to try this again, though, in a future contest. Good job, all of you that actually finished!

Hell, even outside the challenge, what little we did get done was enjoyable. I wouldn't mind doing it again at some point.

I wouldn't mind finishing.

This was really hard because both of the non-Thor-and-Kate entries were so good in such different ways, but in the end...I went for "Scary Monsters." I don't like Enterprise, and I didn't like Archer at all, and yet this story held me right to the end in spite of that bias.

Plus I love a suspenseful story anyway, and we definitely got that here.

That it involved Romulans didn't hurt either, BTW - well conceived Romulans, that is.

Arrgh, how to choose? Seriously, I was impressed with all of them (and I suspect I wouldn't have done so well had I possessed the spare time to enter, as I was approached to). However, I think in the end...Scary Monsters.

But all six of you are winners really. :)

I've been steering clear of this forum at the beginnings of the month because I don't want to get tempted by the challenges - I only have sporadic time to write and it'll just depress me if I start thinking about a challenge idea. The idea of making the challenge a collaboration is a wonderful one - I'm going to hunt out the original challenge thread now to see all the discussions. Very cool idea :techman:

As to who to vote for, I'm stumped! So no vote yet, but vote to come I promise :)

Rather than try to worry out a decision, I just got on with the evening and decided to see which story stayed in my mind. All three entries were very good and very different, so it wasn't really a matter of picking the best, but rather my favourite.

And that one is Scary Monsters - particularly the scene where Debure realises that it isn't the conversation with Archer that's got him arrested, but taking the job in the first place. Something about it, and him seeing Shelbeth, it stays with me.

It's been a really tough decision to make and I've had to read both stories twice (and trice), but in the end I have to go for those who live in the shadow of the night mainly because I love Nerys Ghemor's AU Dukat and because PSGarak does at great Mr Garak.
(plus we Cardassians have to stick together:rommie:)

I really did love yours and PSGarak's, too, Nerys. I enjoy your AU a whole, whole whole lot as well. The only reason I gave the edge the Count's is that I figured anything that got me interested in Enterprise, much less Archer - I am so not a fan -deserved some sort recognition.

::"Plus," she said sheepishly, "it was about Romulans. What can I say? I've got a thing about Romulans."::

Congrats to our winners, Count Zero and _r_ for their tale of Romulan intrigue! I can't wait to see what challenge you two concoct for November. Well done!

Thanks, PSGarak and thanks everyone for the votes. Given that I thought we wouldn't get our story finished in time it feels kind of surreal to have won the challenge.
Well, _r_ has already an idea for the November challenge. I hope we'll get the new challenge thread up soon.
