joking aside, it's interesting how storytelling is changed. Some scene today and probably the main character would suffer from PTSD for the rest of the movie.
We saw him? He was more distraught when Ben died.
We don't know. That's the point. It's an assumption because we don't see his trip back.
So the Empire is hunting Force-sensitives to kill or recruit them. This puts Luke in enormous danger. But as of the start of ANH, Luke has no idea what the Force is, let alone that he’s a potential target for Empire. Nor does he know the significance of the name “Skywalker.”
He can’t stay on the farm forever, at least not without knowing why, and Owen and Beru haven’t done the bare minimum to prepare him to protect himself when he leaves. They’ve just kept him completely oblivious to the danger.

The Palpatine makeup works, though, because it looks a little simpler and closer to the way he'll appear in ROTJ. I know there's that big sticking point of the ROTS makeup in the hologram scene of ESB but, oh well, inconsistent appearances are a trademark of major sci-fi/fantasy franchises.

Which was never an option. Somebody with Luke’s midichlorian count and the name Skywalker isn’t going to go to the academy without getting noticed by the Inquisitors.
But Luke doesn’t know that. Owen just keeps stringing him along with the “maybe next year” lie. What a jerk.
Well the reasons aren't needed, Owen keeps telling him no.
Luke's unaware and is allowed to dream.
The Inquisitors where I think gone by that point. A bunch were killed during Rebels, and that was a few years before Luke enters the picture.
