Spoilers 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' series [Spoiler Discussion]

I'm sorry, do you have a point?
That something that was literally thrown in at the last minute by the request of someone wanting to see a lightsaber being wielded is in no way a "culmination of the movie's entire story arc." If that particular executive never spoke up and the scene was never filmed, would you feel the movie's story arc was incomplete?

Ewan has a message, Obi-Wan broke the most watched premier record on Disney+ and a message for the racists out there attacking Moses Ingram.

Without creating an Instagram account, is there any way to view some of these racist messages? I’ve found hundreds of articles condemning them, but none describing them, except for a single message occasionally quoted calling her a “diversity hire.” It’s frustrating. So many people are telling me to be angry, but nobody’s telling me what I’m supposed to be angry about.

Racism. How about you just believe her and Ewan.

As Ewan said a lot of them were DMs, private messages. And any publicly probably would be deleted when reported.

There is this too

She was apparently defending it by saying it's a South Park reference, as if that is a defense.

Movies are often worked on until the last possible minute. Last minute rewrites, changes in the editing room, reshoots, etc. They're all literally part of the process. When something was added in to a movie doesn't matter at all. It's in the movie and it's just as much a part of the DNA as every other element.

Yes, the scene is significantly important. It's not just fluff, like some people foolishly dismiss it as. When it was added into the movie couldn't matter less. If it was absent, the movie would be lesser, having nothing to do with the "kewl" factor.

(By the way, the story about a mysterious "disney exec" who mandated lightsaber action sounds highly suspect to me, though we both obviously know that the Vader scene was filmed last.)

God is this a replay of that "you can't have a black stormtrooper" bullshit Boyega had to deal with? I really fucking despair sometimes.
I’m not a fan of all the females Disney keeps adding to the Empire. Having them be more male focused and chauvinistic in the previous timeline made them feel more evil to me. Plus the inclusion of females in the First Order helped differentiate them.

This.

That R1 scene only existed to pander to a part of the SW fanbase that believe they need to see lightsabers flashing around in a story that's not about the Jedi/Sith war at all. It had absolutely nothing to do with the film's story arc, and without it, would have flowed right into Star Wars without missing a beat. In fact, R1 should have used Stormtroopers to attack the Rebels handing off the plans, as they were always making the first strike as seen in the next film (in chronological order), so there would have been consistency of Imperial methods, instead of..lightsaber porn.

To be fair, without that Vader scene the film would be rather boring. :)

If that is the only thing that makes the film boring, it’s not doing that good of a job.

I’ve made no secrets I’m not a big fan of Rogue One. It has its moments but the overzealous Vader mowing down a bunch of Rebels in the most fanwanky of fanwankish scenes in film history culminating with a “I’ll get you next time, Rebels. Next time!” post is certainly not one of them IMO.

This show has the opposite of Halo problem where I want to se Vader without his helmet. I want to see Hayden. We have enough of helmet Vader from the movies

You are so very wrong.

‘The Females’? What are you, a Ferengi?

How many (presumably) women have there been ?
Reva and the other inquisitor sister, that one Stormtrooper and the Rebel/the Way agent who is not really Empire anyway… among aaaaaaaaaall these other evil dudes. Horrible

There’s been a few in the Empire since the Disney takeover. It used to be incredibly rare.
I just don’t think it works as well

Glorified extras pressing buttons and saying the odd line you mean? As in Rogue One, Solo and Mando, I can't think of any main Imperial female characters. You're really scaping the barrel for something to moan about dude

Anyway, great episode. They couldn't do it without him, but I was so glad to have confirmation and hear James Earl Jones at the beginning
