Now about 2 1/2 years after the most intense new media campaign ever conceived resulting in the election of Barack Obama, approval ratings are nothing to be happy about. As predicted, the high flying, emotional appeals in his campaign rhetoric quickly became a more reserved, professorial tone about the complexities of the political system and fighting long, difficult battles. There was little doubt in my mind when I voted for the man that there was a price for all that glory. In 2009 he was even awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, a baffling decision that has been a continuing source of embarrassment for the Administration-- only contributing to the false image of a Messiah president. With no way to live up to those expectations in a couple years (or possible even while living) it doesn't look like he'll be able to rely on the same whirlwind of emotional support that got him elected in 2008.

Unfortunately, in my opinion, all this adds up to a presidency of many important accomplishments appearing to be a stuck, incapable administration reaching for impossible goals. I still am in full support of the President and I think he's done a fine job fighting for this country with what he's been handed.

Where do you stand right now? (Poll forthcoming).

I voted for him last time, and I am very likely to vote for him this time. If the election were tomorrow, I would definitely vote for him.

Did not vote for him. Gave him a chance when he first took office and hoped things wouldn't be so bad--even hoped we'd get some good out of a very historic election, but while I have seen a strong politician and rhetorician I have not seen a strong leader or statesman. (There is a difference.) His decision-making process in times of crisis has been less than stellar...often too little too late...and I believe the damage has cost lives and livelihoods.

I did not vote for him but at least hoped he would do well...have not seen it, though. Even another Democrat would have been preferable, in my book.

(ETA: Don't expect the demographics here to reflect the results of general, national polls of all voters. But the big mistake would be to infer stupidity or maliciousness upon all who disagree.)

I voted for him. I'd probably vote for him again barring an exceptional GOP candidate (the only one who comes close would be Huntsman, who I would consider but likely not vote for).

I too am for a new or revised Constitution, but until that happens, I will have to deal with this one. I voted for Obama, but I can't see voting for him this time around. I won't be voting Republican either, so I don't know who i'm going to vote for.

Regarding the Constitution...there are a number of amendments I'd like to see too. Unfortunately the amendment process is a bitch and will not happen in the current, contentious environment.

I voted for him and will vote for him again. I realize that he inherited a shit job from Bush and i do believe that he's doing the best job he can do right now.

I understand how you feel. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, because let's face it, he did inherit a huge mess. I have a feeling his second term will be far better than his first, even as I consider his first term better than what it could have been.

Actually the things I focused on the most weren't things that had anything to do with the previous administration--but what you might call "pop-up crises" that no one could have predicted. The first one of those to really make me think we were in trouble was the handling of the Deepwater Horizon catastrophe (that would be a sizeable number of the "livelihoods" I was talking about earlier).

That was not, however, the first thing to tick me off...but it was the first thing I could not simply blow off as a personal dislike or a mere irritant.

That said, I think there's a point when the blame game just doesn't cut it anymore and you have to take responsibility for what's in front of you.

A bitch, but not impossible. Often times this how change doesn't happen, "well it's too hard, so lets not even try." I'm not saying it's your attitude, just sayin it is the prevailing attitude in this country. It seems to be Obama's attitude, which is why I won't vote for him again.

I would not say impossible forever...I would, however, say impossible in the current, nasty political environment when a lot of people would refuse to help in achieving the necessary numbers simply for the hell of sticking it to the other political party.

Voted for him, probably will again. Not really enthused with him but he was better than the alternative.

On the bright side I have not been disappointed by him either.

I've never liked him and still don't. Still, there are worse candidates out there (from both parties). I'm hoping someone emerges from either party who will get my attention. Right now I don't see anyone, and because of that I suspect Obama will be re-elected easily.

I had high hopes during his campaign. Then, he took office and kind of fizzled. Yeah, we got Health Care, but it wasn't all that great. He's kind of like Bartlet, spoke of great liberalism, but then gravitated to the safety of center. I don't know who his Leo McGarry has been, but someone needs to let Obama be Obama. Otherwise, we have 4 to 8 of a placeholder and very wasted talent.
