nu-trek style frigate (kind of)

judge alba

senior street judge
Commodore
just starting off on another ship. This will be a frigate on the similar lines to the Loknar in the fasa game

I've no idea who did the nacelles so I cant credit them. but everything else is my own doing.
the aft hull are just odd bits to build off and will be changed in time, just trying to think about detailing the saucer. The lumpy bit just below the saucers front edge is the deflector which I shall build into the lower saucer.

Rough stats with the frigate are

length = 290 meters
height = 130 meters
width = 50 meters

crew of 200

weapons layout yet to determine though at the moment it's going to have three torpedo tubes forwards

i like the concept, but i'd love to see it with nacelles of your own creation maybe, i just hate those JJ style nacelles, to me they look as if they belong in a Wiley Coyote cartoon.

have to admit I'm undecided whether to go with the nu-trek nacelles or the tmp type ones. something to think about for a bit

OH NO! Acme warp drives, don't let Wiley near 'em, unless you want a warp core breach. :lol: Seriously, I don't care for JJ's 1930s "Rocketman" style nacelles myself. The ship itself look great though, alot of promise in the design.

I like it with the nu nacelles. But if it's from the jj-verse, I'd lose the undercut on the saucer.

I have no problems with the nacelles at all, I'm not an orthodox Trekkie. My problem would be with the rest of it not matching the swoopy nature of the nacelles. The saucer looks thick and clunky next to them, it maybe needs redone in a more complimentary style. Maybe make it more rounded or thinner and flatter? Even if it were a standard movie era ship I'd pull you up for not making the saucer with enough segments to appear smooth, it looks somewhat slab-sided.

Axeman, His computer may not be able to handle more segments. I put anything more the 60 on a circle and I'm not going anywhere.

As for the saucer not matching the nacelles (that to be honest, I find JJ's to be way to globby for the sake of being different), it's not like JJ's saucer wasn't a blatant take on TMP's saucer. Yes, with some obvious differences, but pretty much the same.

That being said, I agree with you- this saucer and JJ's, doesn't really go with those nacelles. Though my reasons differ I'm sure. ;)

Other then that- Galactic Squirral, where are your new posts? Wakey up and makey more pictures for us! Don't let life get in the way!

I'd rather he tweaked the saucer than just ripped off the JJ nacelles and stuck TMP ones on. What's the point of building another TMP Loknar style ship? Make the saucer swoopier and updated looking, not necessarily anything to do with the JJ-prise but something that matched the design ethics of the saucer. Make it yer own!

well patrickvan is right in that my poor little pc sulks if i try to use more then 60 sides on a circle but saying that I am leaning more towards a custom build nacelle with elements of tmp era and the phase 2 era though maybe still keep the tmp suacer like axeman say with a few tweaks

got a little update. decided I'm defiantly going with the nu trek nacelles.

also re done the saucer and I have to admit ity's better then the old one dont worry if the bridge island looks off it is centered just dosent look it in the picture.
added three torpedo tubes forwards plus three phaser blisters on to the saucer.

Just aft of the bridge island is the base of the lifeboat housing. at the moment I'm thinking of a central cluster of lifeboats along the spine.

had a little play with a texture I'm thinking of going with also undecided on red caps or black caps on the nacelles.

after further study, the assembly back there is a little reminiscent of the Stargazer. what are your thoughts of doubling up the nacelles to see how it might look in that configuration?

hey now that sounds like an idea for a mk4 type frigate I'll have to file it away for later:) but for now I'll keep it to 2 nacelles for now, the bits on the aft hull are like temp holders while I work on the outer hull so to speak when I get there

Are you keeping the section aft of the saucer exactly like that? Because it looks someone flimsy and incomplete.

Also- Are you keeping the rim of the saucer like that, or are you going to make it look more like the refit saucer (re. the horizontal strips)?

You might want to download one of the Trek models from my site with a saucer on it, then steal the aztec pattern image in the zip file for your own saucer.

DON'T DO IT- IT'S A TRAP! The Axeman's site is all lesbians, medieval warfare, and medieval lesbians!

I'm kidding... I wish his site was like that!

Think of the aft section more as a skeleton which I shall build the hull from, it's more to help judge where the parts will go kind of thing. as to the saucer I'm not sure about the stripes. might do to break it up a bit

Thats very kind of you old chap I may just go take a look

Dont thank me, thank Reverend. He drew it for me, along with half the other texture maps I use regularly. I cant draw for toffee. :)
