Thank you Venardhi i think you just made my point.
The original Enterprise, the refit, the Excelsior, the D, the E, Voy, are all later designs.In the TOS pre-TOS world ships like the Deadalus, Horizon and back to the DY100 where all made of simple shapes.
And if you look at the below image you will see what i mean by NX-ish. Just as you noted about the NX "about the NX is how weak the back end appears compared to the bulky saucer".
It may just be my opinion but the bottom shortened ship seems to loose its bulk and it appears weaker or NX-ish to me.And that really rubs me the wrong way as i wanted a pre-Tos ship not another "NX-Akiraprise".

No, I don't think I did. The shape of the ship as a whole can be dynamic without complex shapes. The DY-100, Daedalus, the 'ring-ship' Enterprise, etc. are all pre-TOS designs that accomplish this.

For a more pre-TOS look I'd also suggest non-swept nacelle struts.

Form follows function, this is based on the rather flat akira it does not have the attributes of the other ships such as a secondary hull or a huge honkin ring. So why would it look like the other ships.
"For a more pre-TOS look I'd also suggest non-swept nacelle struts." Preferable yes but not mandatory, i too prefered the straight pylons but i was trying to come up with something fast. Straight means going back and rebuilding them.

Look again at the profile of the Akira. It is not flat.

I'm not saying you have to agree with me, I'm just telling you my personal opinion on the design.

If you look at the attached image, though the akira is in the marginal area by comparison it is still more flat than it is rectangular.

Okay, okay, I think somewhere along the way my words got misinterpreted.

Everything is rectangular when you put a box around them, my point is the shapes that the ship is made of, not what dimensions the box to put them in would be.

The Akira is triangular. It has height, it has negative space.

Look at your ship compared to the ones in your comp.

Mind you it is a rush job, but can you see what I mean about these ships having a dynamic profile that yours is somewhat lacking?

I don't mean to lecture or anything, I'm just trying to point out why I have some problems with the design. If you like it then by all means ignore me. =)

First off Admiral let me start off by saying i have no animosity toward you. Secondly your statements are opinion which i respect. But you are not providing a logical discussion. My ship is not to your taste and i can accept that. But we already covered the triangular lines of the akira. And as far the negative space i do understand and this has also been previously covered. So to get back to the actual thread. I lucked out last night and was able to fix a problem with the nacelle pylons so i managed to finish her up. And i would like to take this opportunity thank all those who offered help with the physical aspect of the model.

At first i was hesitant to beef up the model but a few people here and at the SCN were correct. And i am genuinely pleased with the result. Again i thank you.

It's a neat design, but not exactly to my taste. It's a little too flat looking for me, and I don't care for the long warp nacelles. I can appreciate the effort that went into it though. :thumbsup:
