Now you can have a beer with your Whopper

^
Yeah...most still have the play areas for kids.

But I don't eat at those places anyway now...I just fix me a real burger at home...make good ol' homemade fries or wedges and poor my self a brandy thank you very much.

I like this trend.

"Yes, I'll Super-Size my rum & Coke."

I wonder if they'll sell them at the Drive Thru....

All Euro McDos offer beer.
Yup. I was surprised to find (today, no less) that they didn't in the US.

They don't in the UK either.

I don't think there's anything specific in law preventing them from doing so, but I believe it might mean that children would have to be accompanied to enter the premises, which obviously would hit them hard in the pocket.

Also, whenever I walk past a McDs it is always rammed with kids, I don't know of an adult, myself included, that would eat there.

^^Well, Italian laws are very relaxed about alcohol consumption, we don't have any age limit for drinking and only a few cities have one for buying and selling... and it's 16 IIRC.

On the other hand, here almost all kids learn to drink responsibly at home, so all this "let's keep the children sheltered from alcohol as long as possible" doesn't make sense around for us.

Norwegian laws however are not that relaxed about alcohol consumption. You have to be 18 to buy beer, and 20 to buy liquor, and the ones that sell them to you have to be the same.

Regular stores can only sell beer from 08-1800 on weekdays, and 08-1500 on Saturdays. On Sundays most stores are closed anyways, but the stores that are open are not allowed to sell alcohol on that day. If you want to buy liquor or wine, you have to go “the Norwegian Wine and Spirits Monopoly”, that is a government run business.

Restaurants and bars can sell alcohol at different times, but I just can’t see McDonalds fitting into either description.

So no, McDonalds can't sell beer in Norway either

^I remember that at the McDonald's in France and Germany, one could have a beer with their meal deal. However, in the UK this isn't the case. I guess this has something to do with the differences in drinking culture between the UK and the rest of continental Europe. In the UK it is more of an occassion to get absolutley pissed up, eat a horribly unhealthy kebab, throw up in the gutter, and then punch/stab etc. a police officer or some other unfortunate member of the general public.
