And I hear this ^ said by Garak

lol, I mean that with the utmost respect of course. :D

As for Tribbles, while we don't like them alive, they make great shiskabobs.

^Very good, but I'm still sending you Dukat's greatest monologues vols I-X as punishment for your slur againist our great people.

I think each of the major races had potential. And there are aspects of the Romulans I like too, even if they are honorless p'taQ.

But, I dunno, for some reason I always had a greater affinity for the Klingons. They had a sense of honor and chivalry that I've always felt was lacking in the real world. Even if some of them were corrupt in practice.

Yes, but it was more honored in the breach than in the observance. For every Worf there were dozens of Growron's and the Empire reacted in a very foolish way to the threat of the dominion.

Mind you, there were plenty of Cardassians who did not truly believe in their duty to the Union either...

I think what happened was that the ideas of Honor to the Empire, Glory of Battle, etc. like most other ideals degenerated over time. At least from an in universe standpoint... whether or not the writers did that on purpose is another question entirely.

If you've played Klingon Academy, Chang gives a vastly different interpretation to Klingon ideals then what we got in the show. And a much more positive one in my opinion as well. This was set before the events of TUC of course.

Oh yeah, I was very impressed by Chang in that game, a much more rounded character than that Shakespeare quoting traitor.

I think that the writers went a bit too far with the 'honor' thing, making it the be all and end all of the entire Klingon race rather than a code of conduct and ethics. Without Worf and Marok there was a danger of the Klingon's being nothing more than a Empire of racist vandals judging everyone by a impossible (and hypocritical) standard.

(Mind you, I've never forgiven the writers for having the Klingons attack Cardassia:cardie:)

Have you read the excellent IKS Grokon/Klingon Empire novels by KRAD?

pfft! You guys deserved it for siding with the Dominion!

I can't think off the top of my head if I've read those ones specifically, but I've read a couple of Klingon novels. One was, if I recall correctly, simply called Star Trek: Klingon

technically we (or rather Skrain Dukat's post coup puppet government) only allied ourselves with the Dominion after the Klingon's sneak attack upon our reforming Union. An attack that ironically brought the Dominion into the AQ...

I remember the book your talking about it was the novelization of a nineties computer game, Star trek Klingon. Reg Barclay learns how to be a Klingon from the esteemed Growron:lol:, great read that!

My recomentadion is to read Klingon Empire: A burning house by keith R.A. DeCandido. Its a wonderful look at the entire Klingon empire, from lowly farmers to the most august High Houses. I think that you would like it.

(BTW, KRAD even looks a bit like a Klingon, albeit a QuchHa' one...)

Details details...

And of course that book, and the game too I guess, were probably made prior to his turn to the dark side (those cookies are just so nummy :D ) During TNG, he really wasn't that bad. And even during parts of DS9, like The House of Quark.

That, by the way, is one of the points I see in favor of the Empire. Not what the other Klingon did, but the fact that Gowron, who obviously had issues with Quark being there, still stood up for the little troll when the other guy was about to kill an unarmed man.

And I'll see if I can get a hold of those books. Thanks.

That, and the comedic talent of the man:lol:. And yeah they did have a delightfully brilliant means of punishing D'Ghor for his stupid greed.

It was also Quarks crowing moment of awesome too.:techman:

BOOOOOOOOO! May your house be infested by a thousand tribbles, Klingon!

you do know that that's the way they make blood wine, do you?

WHAT????!!!!
I am sorry Nerys, I too think he needs a punishment for offending us, but... *grabs the Tribbles* ... I cannot allow that!
FREEDOM FOR THE TRIBBLES! ;)

Well, it's not quite over, but at a guess it looks like Damar had better be thinking of the next challenge.

But seriously, I almost want to stick you all in the winners hall!
