November Challenge: Bad Faith

^I HATE writing negative drama. That's why. Things either must be funny or have a happy ending.

Win this challenge, then next month you can make the next challenge as light-hearted as you please. That's how it works.

Well I've got most of that fic I mentioned earlier written, but I just can't find a way to shift the focus to the topic at hand. If I did do that, what's written so far would make a great intro.

I've been offline for a few months, but certainly last time I was around for the conversation it was required (unless clearly stated in the challenge) that the story be recognisably Trek based

I've never done one of these challenges before. Are all entries expected to be Trek fanfic?

That's my understanding, yes.

But then, almost any story can be 'translated' into Trek. So that's not as big a limitation as it might first appear.

I wasn't thinking of it as a limitation, I just wanted to make sure I followed the proper conventions. It would be a little embarrassing to mess up my first attempt here. :)

Thanks for clarifying!

Translating a story into Trek??? Hmm... *tries to remember if she's ever written a fic before that dealt with this topic*

The Captain Kirks

My entry.

Not wanting to detract from the effect, I am using the example of Captain Kirk & Admiral Janeway as a metaphor. Of course, this does mean one has to recall the exact actions of both in their position as "legends" and "role models".

....*shrugs*...

Yes. But I've also been busy trying to finish a particularly complicated article, which has left little time for fanfic.

If only my fellow historians knew how much I sacrifice...

Just a word of warning:

The November story challenge ends today.

However, when I chose the dates for the contest, I overlooked the facts that:

a) today is a Wednesday; and

b) I teach until 4:30 on Wednesdays.

As a consequence, the poll will not be posted at 1200 EST, as previously indicated, but some time around 1700 EST.

I apologize to anyone who wanted to jump in and vote ASAP.
