November Art Challenge--LCARS 24

I always have trouble qualifying for these art challenges. At least I started and finished this during November. It was, of course, part of the Cold War and space race, was Earth's first starbase (sort of), was the first thing assembled in orbit, and became a symbol of peace and cooperation by former enemiies, etc. But fitting it into the Trekiverse is thin, I guess, even though it was mentioned in VOY: One Small Step and shows the namesake of a class of starships docked on it.

I wouldn't call it a gutterball. In the context presented, as a Cold War space base and an element of the closer relations of Russia and the United States, it sounds to me like a good candidate.

Okay, I'll enter it then. I had just finished this one before doing the Mir but didn't think it tied in much with the November art challenge, since it's not much of a battlewagon, not being equipped with torpedo launchers. But I made both not specifically for this challlenge but because I needed them for own my project. And I really didn't feel like doing a scene of the "Great Tribble Hunt."

Don't forget that the topic is war and peace... as an ironically-named Cold-War project which eventually became part of the cooperative effort between the US and Russian space programs and gave crucial experience for the building of the ISS [which will help eventually lead to the founding of Starfleet and the addition of Beatle-haired ensigns to the Fleet :D], thus actually earning its name, it's perfect!

WOOT!!! SOYUZ CLASS MSD :):techman:

Yeah its one of my fav designs :)

I like them both and see the merit in both. A little annotation about why you feel it qualifies seems appropriate to me.

Well done, dude!

I could have changed it into a poster about peaceful cooperation, turning enemies into allies, Mir's influence on Starfleet, etc., but that's all been pointed out in this thread already. It is what it is: a screenshot from an LCARS readyroom laptop with reference information about an historic piece of hardware. I've e-mailed the entry (the Mir schematic) just as it appears above and turned my atterntion to the next schematic (the Intrepid Aeroshuttle).

I've wondered how to go about creating the MSD's...I've got a non-Trek ship that I'd like to create one for, is there any info or sites you could point me to? Like what software are you using to do yours?

Most use Adobe Illustrator. I don't. I have my own oddball methodology.

Here are two sites with formums dedicated to making MSDs and other LCARS art.

What I'm doing with LCARS is different, too: programming it rather than just drawing pictures of what it would look like.
