First off--thanks to Gul Re'jal, for an excellent challenge for last month. And thanks to the voters who selected me.
Gratitude, I must say, is a most fascinating concept. To be honest...this very month, November, is noted for having two American holidays in particular, involving gratitude. Veteran's Day is one--and we are ever grateful to those who serve. The other, of course, is Thanksgiving.
SO--
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is as follows:
Write a tale with the theme of--gratitude. That is, something that involves it, in some way. You can make it sinister--"You've been in my debt, and now, it's time to pay up." It can be more innocent. It can be dramatic. It can be tragic. It can be lighthearted. Make it what you will--with that theme in mind.
Here are the rules:
Word limit: Once again, I will be generous...7000 words max. No lower limit.
Your story must be an original tale for this contest. That is, it can't be something you've posted before, in any form.
It must take place fully within the Star Trek universe. Nothing from other franchises.
As the Gul had it: "Only stories finished before the deadline will be entered in the voting poll." This means any story unfinished before the deadline will be disqualified. Also...I recommend, as she did, that you only post after you've finished writing. Maybe what you write in a later chapter demands that you edit a previous section--and if you've already posted the chapter, it may be too late....
Finally--be sure to post in this thread the link to your story.
The deadline: Sunday, November 27, 2011, 11:59 PM, Eastern Standard Time.
The voting season will encompass the following Monday through Friday.
