Novels continuing where the TV series finished....

Hi all,

A good while back, I guess when i was aged about 11 to 25 I was a big Star trek reader, collected almost all of the TOS, TNG books and got a few DS9 ones too (ironically as thats my favourite series). I stopped somewhere around 25 as other things in life took over.

ten years later Im a little interested to see where the novels took up after the TV Shows finished. I've heard the Voyager and Enterprise stuff actually surpasses the series (which isnt hard in some cases heh).

Can anyone recommend where to start or give me some reading orders for voy/ent etc?

Thanks all.

The post series reading order for Voyager:

Homecoming
The Farther Shore
Spirit Walk #1: Old Wounds
Spirit Walk #2: Enemy of My Enemy

not that I have a very high opinion of them.

See either link in my sig for a chonological order of all books!

Enterprise was the only relaunch I have read so far partly because the series was cancelled and partly because I so wanted to see the Romulan War which is a fixed Canon event in Star Trek History. I love DS9 but to tackle that series seems a bit daunting now. At least with Enterprise you get about 1 book a year which is easy enough to handle. I think the writers are shaping up the 22nd Century nicely and took the ball from Manny Coto and ran with it.

I started with "The Good that Men do".

It's a little daunting, I agree, but well worth the time and energy. I'm actually looking to offload some of my ST book collection, which includes just about the entire DS9 relaunch (all except for the Gateways story), so if you're interested, PM me.

I believe the TNG Relaunch novel order is (beginning to most recent):

"Death in Winter"
"Resistance"
"Q&A"
"Before Dishonor"
"Greater than the Sum"

Repeating what others have said:

TNG
Death in Winter by Michael Jan Friedman
Resistance by J.M. Dillard
Q & A by Keith R.A. DeCandido
Before Dishonor by Peter David
Greater than the Sum by Christopher L. Bennett

In addition, there is a separate series of Titan novels featuring William Riker, Deanna Troi, and others, picking up where Nemesis left off:

Taking Wing by Michael A. Martin & Andy Mangels
The Red King by Andy Mangels & Michael A. Martin
Orion's Hounds by Christopher L. Bennett
Sword of Damocles by Geoffrey Thorne

The stories of both the Enterprise-E and Titan will continue in the Destiny trilogy by David Mack, which comes out in the final three months of this year.

DS9
This has been going on since 2001. Best bet is to pick up the omnibuses that have been released thus far of the early stories:

Twist of Faith by S.D. Perry, David Weddle, Jeffrey Lang, and Keith R.A. DeCandido
These Haunted Seas by David R. George III and Heather Jarman

If you like those, there's a full list available in those books and online. The most recent book is Fearful Symmetry by Olivia Woods.

VOY
Homecoming by Christie Golden
The Farther Shore by Christie Golden
Spirit Walk: Old Wounds by Christie Golden
Spirit Walk: Enemy of My Enemy by Christie Golden

Voyager's story will continue in spring 2009 with Full Circle by Kirsten Beyer.

ENT
The Good That Men Do by Michael A. Martin & Andy Mangels
Kobayashi Maru by Andy Mangels & Michael A. Martin

Enterprise's story will continue in late 2009 with the trade paperback The Romulan War by Michael A. Martin.

Hope that helps!
