Nova-Class Stats

Gadrin

Commander
Red Shirt
Anyone have an online source for stats for the Nova-Class starship (aka Equinox).

I watched the Equinox eps the other night and got the basic numbers (crew of ~80, Warp 8 max) but just wondered if there might be something a bit more detailed.

Thx.

...A few problems with that one:

1) Why are the landing struts denoted by the tractor beam symbol?
2) Why are the bow torpedo tubes flanking the main nav deflector when the muzzles on the exterior in fact flank the bow cutout, one deck higher up and farther forward?
3) Equinox had an aft torpedo launcher in the spine; as the upper notch in the spine is an obvious impulse engine in the "Endgame" variant, and thus probably an impulse engine here, too (despite being differently shaped and unlit), the torpedo launcher should probably be in the "cargo hold" area and fire through the "cargo door".

I realize these are problems of the original MSD and not of your doing, Bill, but you might try and correct the faults.

I realize these are problems of the original MSD...

I've been working on drawings for the Nova Class ships for a long while now, and I think maybe this is the real-world reason for the MSD 'irregularities'.

The basic outline of the original MSD matches the line drawings that Rick created, which were presumably made available to the CGI model builders to 'build' the ship, as well as to the graphics people to create the MSD. My guess is that they either worked concurrently or maybe the MSD was completed ahead of the final model. At any rate the final model, while generally close, ended up with a more curved & somewhat less segmented look overall, while the MSD stayed true to the original drawings and seems to have cut & pasted pre-existing MSD elements and then re-scaled to fit Equinox...including Voyager's deflector & torp arrangement. I'm guessing with productions schedules being tight the two groups were either working independently or just didn't have time to reconcile the MSD to the design decisions made for the CGI. Just speculation on my part, though based on the respective final results.

Gadrin, LCARS 24's stats are correct. The same statistics show up in the book "Starship Spotter", co-written by Alex Rosenzweig, a long-time moderator in the Trek Tech forum and definitely a guy in the know.
