Would Neelix's body hair, "fur"? Are we to assume that the body paint make up on Ethan is supposed to be some form of velvet on Neelix, would act as a defensive line to her warmest approaches.

I don't think I haven't said anything that isn't entirely obvious after a little contemplation.
