Not looking forward to my next doctor's visit.

So, I have to get to the doctor in a few days to have a sebaceous cyst removed. I've had this thing for a few years, but only recently has it started to swell and become very painful. So, after trying to sooth it and make the pain and swelling go down, I finally just relented and made an appointment with the doctor to have it removed entirely.

I went online and watched a few treatments done and it's so disgusting. I'm not looking forward to having this done, but I am sure as hell looking forward to having it out of me!

Have any of you gone through this procedure before?

No, sorry have not done so.. but the procediours are often far "easier" for the patients than one would think. You ARE sedated right? ;) And most often you get some sort of cover so you cant see what they are doing..

Good luck :)

I've had a few removed no big deal, one in the arm, one the left thigh, and one in the nether region.
when they are gone you'll never know they were there.
don't worry.

I've never had it done, but I know from my years working in hospitals that it's a very common and easy procedure; you'll be fine and much happier when it's over.

Good luck Amasov and try not to worry...I'm sure its a very different experience to the one you're building up in your mind. :) *sends reassuring thoughts*

You'll be much happier when it's gone.

Sort of like a root canal. The procedure is often not nearly as bad as the dental issue (and pain) requiring the procedure. Once the root canal is over and has taken care of the problem...you feel so much better.

Nothing to worry about. And it's not like you have to watch. I my case, they gave me Vicodin, which was nice also (although truth be told, Tylenol did more for me in that case then the Vicodin ever did.)

I'm somewhat contradicting myself by saying I kind of want to see it once it's taken out.

Oh..ouch! If you don't mind me asking, where is it located? On your face? I've had one of those on my face before..but it went away eventually. Good luck with that.

It's on the back of my neck.

So, new development.

Apparently, I can't see my doctor until February 23rd.

I'm probably going to make a visit to the emergency room to see if they could remove it.
