Northeast Frankenstorm, hurricane Sandy.

The wait wasn't so bad, a little more than a half hour. The gas station really had its act together. They had several people out directing traffic and set things up to run optimally. Like using two different entrances, one for cars with gas cap on left and other for gas cap on right. One person was responsible for where each car went, so no confusion when it was someone's turn.

Yeah, things have gotten pretty organized with regard to managing the gas situation. Sure beats the chaos of last week.

I found bits of this New York Times article on the topic of the L and G lines pretty apt and amusing. Especially the person who was going to vote for Obama/Biden, but changed his mind and voted for a write-in:"L Train/G Train."
If the Nor'easter coming in is severe, I'm not sure I'll be able to get to work tomorrow outside of taking a car. That'd cost at least $40!

That write-in made me lol!

I heard the incoming storm has weakened and won't be as bad as predicted. It may still cause problems but it shouldn't be the nightmare scenario some were predicting. Let's hope!

Snowing here too

The road are already icy, but a larger problem has happen. The storm drains are already backing up onto the street.

I am dreading the packed subway platform. I'm tempted to walk despite the weather.

^By lack of service I meant lack of service to riders -- the fact that all other lines have been partially or completely restored while the L and G were put off till last -- I didn't mean lack of service by crews to the lines.

Anyway...it's weird to see it all like that!

The leftovers of your hurricane arrived in Bavaria yesterday. We had some pretty strong gusts of wind, lots of rain and a bit of sleet, that was all.
Today it's a cold but completely calm day, cloudy and dry.

I can't speak for anyone else, but here I got a couple inches of snow and that's it. Definitely feel like we dodged a bullet on that one.

Yeah, it wasn't very bad here either. I was surprised by how relatively quiet the subway was this morning and last night.

We got a good amount of snow. However now there are even more trees down and more power outages. Several traffic lights that had power yesterday are out again today.

We got a nice blizzard last night, but it was too wet for it to stick. There was a little bit on the cars and some other surfaces this morning, but it didn't last.

And the L is back! HUZZAH!!!

Though I have to say that it was lovely working from home today. My boss is very sweet and was worried about me walking 4 hours in the snow. :)
