Not that I give a care what Kim Kardashian does, but it's right there all over the headlines on the net. If the surname of your child's father was West, would you really name your daughter North (no middle name)? Yes, they really did. Granted, it's better than Apple or Moxie Crimefighter or Blue Ivy, but North West?

They say her nickname will be Nori, but why not just name her Nori in the first place? Or Nora? Nora West sounds like a classy, sexy female character from a Dashiell Hammet detective novel. Maybe Kanye prefers Hitchcock.

Am I tripping, or doesn't Nori mean seaweed in Japanese or Chinese?

I don't think it's great, but it's not horrible either. I wish they'd stop reporting that they are going to call her Nori "for short" though, because it's not actually shorter. They need to just say it's a nickname.
