That's not the impression I get reading Van Hise's comments to me.
It's my understanding that that was going to come from Ed Gross's Image imprint, formed after he quit working for Schuster. Jones says his manuscript was 1800 pages long, which may be a factor in the book's not being published.One book I really wish they'd come out with -- it was promoted in a couple other of their books -- was going to be titled RETURN TO TOMORROW and be the Preston Jones account of making TMP that never ran in CFQ. I'm guessing they never paid Jones either.
